MOB drill in the Sea of Cortez!

We've been doing a lot more of these recently - obviously this drill was in favourable conditions, but even then it was shocking how quickly one can lose sight of a big white buoy. I've also been upgrading our lifejackets AND we have been practicing getting an unconscious casualty back on board shorthanded.

Would there be much interest in a video dedicated to our MOB and other safety procedures?

Great content 🙏🏻

A yes from me too on safety content. Makes me feel less of a nerd if I tell everyone “Leo does this stuff and sure it’s boring but it’s important” ! Thanks, I’m enjoying your nice life vicariously!

When I took people out on a saill in the San Francisco Bay, I would routinely do MOB drills. I think people expected this. The largest boat I hired was a 45 footer: a man-overboard drill was an absolute essential, particularly since most of the blokes would get on the piss early on in the sail, so to do the responsible thing was an important thing to cover before that point.

Yes, I love seeing all of your on board activities. How about one on celestial navigation.

Paul Bacina

I would ALWAYS love to see how you deal with the high freeboard and lifting someone who isn't helping. In a separate observations, my experience is that it is IMPERATIVE that everyone secure their crotch strap at all times. This is because the POB will want to lift their arms as they get close to the boat and folks aboard will grab the PFD. I've seen two folks (in drills) slip out of their PFD if they don't have their crotch strap secured.

I would love to see some practical sailing content.

I would like to see that for sure
