Marit returns!

Did I already mention that Marit is back on board now? She has been working on leathering the mast hoops - this will help protect the mast from chafe during the ocean passages that we have coming up. There are lots of jobs like this that we are aiming to do before leaving Canada in just a couple of weeks!

Leo explained this a very long time ago: The bullwark stanchions are the most vunerable part of the boat to get brused, smashed or damaged. If you make them from (extended frames) you have to repair them by replacing a full frame. That's why he chose to make the stanchions as seperate pieces and has only to replace a stanchion when damaged

I've just been rewatching earlier videos and I have a question: Why aren't hull frames extended to become the bulwarks, rather than bolting the bulwarks on later? It seems like that would be much stronger, part of the overall structure of the boat. They'd be more outboard than the current bulwarks (leaving more room on deck), but could still protrude through the cover planks, which I suppose might protrude a bit further outboard than they do now. (Not sure where ongoing questions about construction belong, but giving it a shot to put it here).
