New Video Progress Update (February 2024)

tl;dr, still working on it but it's getting there, will post some sneak peeks (screenshots and clips) over the next few days

Well I said the video was on track to be finished by the end of January, and that has turned out to be a FILTHY LIE. It's all taken a lot longer than I anticipated, which I guess isn't super unusual for me.

It is definitely getting close - the screenshot I showed a month ago (top) showed mostly voiceover and very little of the video filled in, but now (bottom) I've got most of the video filled in too.

But not all of it, those light blue sections are placeholders for things I still need to get. And the whole thing just needs a little bit more time to get right.

Editing is a very iterative process for me. They say a film gets written twice - once in the script and once in the edit - and not that this is a film by any means, but I certainly find that's true for me too.

I spend a lot of time re-writing/re-recording to get everything as clear and concise as possible. Stuff that seems fine in the script can fall apart when you actually see/hear it in context. Some explanations need to be made longer because I realize they're not clear enough, some need to be made shorter because they drag on for too long, and this can have ripple effects throughout the rest of the video (e.g. if I end up bringing a certain thing up earlier, I need to rewrite the later section so I'm not repeating myself).

So yeah it all takes a while, and since this is a bigger and more ambitious video than usual, the process just gets amplified.

Thank you guys so much for your patience and continued support. I don't want to leave you with just another boring screenshot of a timeline, so over the next few days I'll post some sneak peeks at what I've been working on, including future videos that I've only just started planning out. Hope you enjoy them!

Can't wait!

Aleksandras Ševčenko

just what I want to hear; that you care enough about quality to delay the video to make it better

Gordinator

We show up for steak, not fast food. No complaints about wait time when the content is as delectable as yours! Excited to see what you’re cooking up!

To quote Fry, "it took half an hour to write, I thought it would take half an hour to read."

thran

Take your time, it's not just for us to watch, but also for you to be happy with something you've created! That's super important, so I definitely don't mind waiting. Excited to watch it when it does come out!

kasadonna

Quality takes time. Glad to see one of my favorite video producers understands this. Take the time, polish, iterate, and when you're ready, unleash it out into the world. Super-excited!
