Oh good, i wasn’t the only one that immediately realised they were dead pixels, they’re too “square” to really be anything else.

As the other members said, these marks are dead pixels. You can see that these are dead pixels, since the fluid inside the LCD turned into crystals. These are the black markings. There are two ways to fix it: The first to replace the entire screen and the second is to pass voltage to the screen, to turn every pixel black, to create every where pixels. When this is done you need to pray. If it does not work that means that there is some in the screen to much or to less voltage.

The pattern they are in make me think there was some sort of shortage that caused dead pixels, maybe a jolt of electricity into the screen by something like a low powered stun gun

Oh that mark on the screen? Those are dead pixels. And as far as I am aware those aren’t repairable and need to be replaced.
