What should I do with an old iMac?
Added 2021-01-24 09:38:50 +0000 UTCI have an iMac from late 2009. It's slow, the Wi-Fi card doesn't work, the latest macOS no longer supports it, but the screen still looks great. I'm considering doing a Hackintosh mod where I replace most of the internals with an up-to-date PC running the latest OS. Of course I'd make a video about it too! I would also sell off the working parts so that hopefully they could be used to repair other iMacs of this model. However, I also appreciate the idea of keeping it intact and original for the sake of preservation.
I've decided to leave it up to you guys, what do you think I should do with it?

Hopefully there's some sort of standard the display adheres to, like whatever the 2009 equivalent to EDP is. If it is some standard, you could probably find a driver board for them on ebay cheaply. Edit: after doing a bit of research, looks like the display is using LVDS (source: https://www.panelook.com/LM240WU2-SLA1_LG%20Display_24.0_LCM_overview_4977.html). There's a few listings on eBay for driver boards for around 20ish usd. Not sure how much it would cost to get one over there, though.
