Development Update #78: 25/09/2022
Added 2022-09-25 09:04:27 +0000 UTCHello all,
Yes, 78, I went back and counted them. This number doesn't include any of the developer logs (remember those) or other posts only the development updates.
I'm not sure if having that number there is a significance, but it is something I wanted to do for a long time - and you know me, I'll get around to it eventually.
Spacecorpz Mission
So, let's get through some of the things that have happened over last couple of weeks. Firstly, the mission I created for Spacecorpz is done. This clocked up 290 static images and a couple of animations. I am overall quite pleased with the final result, there are a few lessons learnt that I will be detailing in a longer Developer Log (personal note: Go find out what number it should be).
I will also be releasing the mission as a 'standalone' playable game for supporters. Though it involves some characters from Dreams of Reality it is completely non-cannon and the events that take place have no bearing outside of its own self-contained story.

Due to the mission taking up a large majority of the already limited free time I have; I did not progress the development of Dreams of Reality as much as I would have wanted. However, the couple of weeks 'break' from my own game was actually a good and (as it turns out) a much-needed thing. I'll cover this in more detail in the developer log, but for now, know that it's nice to get back to working on my own project again.
Dreams of Reality Progress
The last couple of day's I have spent working on some short animations, I have a couple left to do then I should be able to start pushing into more scene creation and rendering.
I am attempting to have an interactive selection screen as well as an animation playing at the same time, this is another (I guess 3.0) version of the graphical choice menu. In reality you can choose who to speak to by clicking on their character in a 'group' scene, whist an animated campfire is shown.
This may not sound like much but given how every choice is important - You can begin to understand some of the differences I will need to wrestle with. It's all good fun and coding at the end of the day. This is what I enjoy and if done right will go completely unnoticed (as all gameplay elements should).
Nvidia becomes the scalper
Nvidia recently announced the upcoming release of their 40 series cards. They seem to be already selling them at scalper prices. However, I do intend to be upgrading my 2070, the choice is just how much to spend, the current price of the 30 series cards has come down a lot (and may fall further with the release of the 40 series).
The decision to be able to upgrade my GPU at this point is only thanks to your support over the last two years. Though I have been using some of the money to purchase some assets and the voice acting, everything else has been working up to being able to afford the GPU.
That's all I have for this week,
Stay safe all,
Cenc
