My thoughts on art theft.

So, it has come to my attention that users from a DDLC discord server recently became patrons of mine and some of them shared my mature art uncensored to their group. It seems that there was also some less that friendly exchages in between some of the members of that server in relation to sharing my patreon "exclusive" art to a public server.

Having said that, i usually don´t put myself in between the problems of other people because of common logic. But because my drawings were involved in this problem and because i always wanted to share my thoughts on art theft i will make an exception.

First of all, law regarding art copyright is not as simple as some people are led to think, im pretty sure the general consensus is that if you make a piece of art, it its automatically protected against copyright infringements as it is your intellectual property, in a perfect world that could be case, but the reality is a bit more complex than that.

Trying to claim the copyright of a drawing specially in the case of you drawing  characters that are iconic or have some market appeal, is kind of REALLY FUCKING HARD considering most of those characters are already copyright protected, so to me, someone that enjoys making porn about well know characters claiming ownership those kind of drawings is not that easy. 

That is why a lot of artist have come with several methods of "pseudo self-copyright" their own art such as singned their work,only publishing low resolution pictures, putting a watermark all over it and to be honest, i dislike all of that. I don´t like to alter my own work for protection.

And finally we can reach the point of me and the Gigantic Patreon logos i use to censored my own art. Some of you might think that i am a massive hypocrite because i also cover my own art, and to be honest i have to half-way agree with you. I do cover my mature drawings and leaving the uncensored versions behind a patreon paywall, having said that, in all honesty, i never, EVER, expected my uncesored drawings to remain exclusively on patreon forever. That´s because of the nature of patreon itself, it is a page that works on the trust system and while i think its interesting, it is also extremely easy to abuse, you can make an account, take all the patreon exclusive content already uploaded from someone and then quit your patronage immediately, not wasting a single dime in the process. I know this because it always happens to me, Every ,Single, Time. Whenever i made a new drawing, phantom accounts join my patreon for a couple of minutes and then magically dissapear. So in conclusion it is completely useless to take action against those people here, even if you banned them, they can always make another account.

Now I can hear some people wondering: "why?  if you know all of this then why you continue to censored your own art?".

Well, lets just say that i played the internet game long enough to understand it quite decently. XD

Once upon a time i was a child that, like many other children of the web, got my pepe really hard everytime i saw lude art of some of my favorite characters, and like most of those kids, i too got extremely anoyed when everytime i search for lude art i was hit with a paywall.

And that is the TRUE reason why i continue censoring my art, not because of revenge for old boners that couldn´t be satisfied, but rather because i understood that cockteasing the internet was a great tool for getting people to be interested in my drawings.

So in conclusion, to all of my dear patreons and non patreons alike i ask kindly that if you want to share my art i will appreciate if you share only the censored version of it, although if you share the uncensored one, im not going to stop you, it its useless trying to pick a fight against the internet, its just a loosing battle from the get go.
