Comic Update #9 - Concepts for Chapter 2

Concepted the palace... this was difficult but fun once I figured out the feel I wanted
Onti Palaces are historical buildings where people can go to train, meditate, or simply visit among other things. I wanted the layout of Ocho's to be similar to Shaolin Temple, but be clearly native to a tropical setting (hence the greens, browns and splashes of colour). Also wanted it to feel slightly run down with hints of overgrowth.
Next are statue concepts, based on Taíno imagery, of animals that represent each element with symbols. An origem (estan ancestor), lion, flying squirrel and terratoise. All the history will eventually be explained in the comic I dont wanna give away too much
Then, I wanted to figure out the layout and colours of the Community Centre. They look a bit too similar to the colours of the Palace so I might play about with them in the comic. Not gonna bother laying out Veas house or anything yet, just gonna do it as I go, kinda eager to continue lmao
I really struggle to get the image I have in my head of each scene and location down on paper cinematically, so doing these layouts helps a lot.
Elora and Veas designs are included, Keisha’s gran and great gran, as well as some expressions to get used to drawing their faces. Def need to practice more with characters that vary in age, can't wait to introduce more, such as Keisha's lil nephew.
This week I'm gonna start roughing these pages, with these layouts it should be quicker🙏🏾
