Lynch used many talent from the Vancouver area talent pool. They tend to show up in other shows made in that region, such as SG-1, X-Files, etc.

As you've seen, the characters are in love triangles galore, with over the top music, and tons of absurd mystery. The 1977 comedy "Soap" was a very ironic and comedic take on soap operas. You might want to check it out. Lynch went more serious with his parody. And yes, you have yet to encounter the weird. What you've seen so far goes for *normal* in the town of Twin Peaks.
