Neat that you get to watch this classic. A few thoughts: 1) on colorization - I hate it as the results are never true to the real thing. Your de-colorization is fine, even if the contrast was a tad bit too much. 2) the music in this film is part of the iconic "Christmas" music of the baby-boomers, as this is what their parents played for them on records, and why the specific tunes continue on to this day. The origination of "White Christmas" comes from this film as does "Happy Holiday." 3) the black-face is unfortunate but that was a thing in our past. As long as we are willing to acknowledge it was our past, and we keep it there, I am not going to raise the offense flag. 4) finally, Crosby and Astaire were probably the biggest names in pop music and film before WWII. And this is a war-time movie, intended to be an escape from the horror that was going on in the rest of the world, so Paramount put the biggest names in this one. Thanks again.
