Housekeeping and Health Update 25JAN24 17:30 PST

I know a few people have asked in comments and messages, and a couple have noted that the machine seems to be back on.

I am not "better," but I am in another good phase, and the momentum is fading a bit.

The good news is no surgery - phew.

The bad news - still doesn't have a name/diagnosis beyond, "You have long COVID, and it sucks to be you."

A lot more tests and specialist visits are coming up over the next 60ish days. But that is good news. If you've ever been chronically sick, you have likely experienced "go home, rest, lose some weight, eat better" as the answer to everything. Ehem, while eating better is probably contributing to some of my January boosts, if I got any more sleep on some days (January 1 -2 are good examples), I'd be in a coffin.

Back to the good news. There is finally enough data from the tests run in late December and early January to convince the insurance company (ah, American healthcare, so amazing and awful at the same time) that I need to see four different medical specialties and start one therapy. So, while I don't have a diagnosis, I am finally on the path to maybe getting an answer.

Comments

Glad to hear there is forward progress David. Not having an answer or direction can be sometimes worse than the pain, discomfort, and anxiety it all causes. Sending positive energy your way to keep the forward momentum going. As always excellent work to you and your team. You all never disappoint with the quality of your reporting.
