Also, it was go beyond the rim or death. Sisko basically left his wife to look after his unborn child and Jake to bring up himself (let's not forget The Visitor). When sisko went he looked like a deadbeat dad. Sheridan went because it was that or death.

2024-04-02 16:15:14 +0000 UTCI vastly preferred the return of Lorien to bring Sheridan beyond the rim with all the others to Siskos " becoming one with the prophets". Whereas Sisko was born to his fate, Sheridan earned his placed with the first ones by a series of trials in which he stayed true to his beliefs at each turn.
