I also found this season to be hit and miss. Some of the new characters I really liked and some well....ugh. All in all it is probably the season I liked least although it does have some really good episodes. Some of the storylines were not interesting at all to me but I stuck with it because of the characters that I love.

2023-04-03 09:16:19 +0000 UTCIt's definitely not as fast-paced as the previous seasons and out of all the seasons we have seen so far it's by far my least favourite. But I am still very interested to see Clint's take on certain storylines and characters, and who knows, maybe he'll even get me to see this season in a different light. He's certainly done so before (there were episodes I previously found boring but after watching his reaction and hearing his thoughts on it I actually found myself quite enoying the episode)

2023-04-02 19:58:10 +0000 UTCCaroline being Caroline.....Everybody can understand why Caroline doesn’t like Damon, she was used to get what Damon wanted, the crystal, to help him to get his loved one he waited 145 years to get to, and some feeding. Also we need to remember that, at that time, Damon had still his humanity on a dimmer switch, that didn’t know her, and that Caroline at that time was to his eyes an insignificant silly girl, that chased him, took him to her house, to have sex with him the first time they’ve meet. You cannot expect a vampire to have any form of respect for someone that shallow. Prior to that, while in the square he was studying her, he realize her connections and that she was pursuing him, perfect subject to use. And we forgot that since then, Damon switch little by little his humanity back on, fully, stated to know all the people in town, started to care for them and that if it wasn’t for him they would all be dead Caroline included. So Damon to Caroline is a reminder of the person that she was that she doesn’t want to be anymore. And she is very pro Stefan because she is partial to him, she fancied him from the very beginning and she would have loved to be in Elena’s place and have him love her as he imagined he loved Elena and that is why she idolized him. But Damon in the entire universe of vampire is the kitty cat of vampires, certainly compared to Klaus, Elijah, an even to his brother that has done pretty terrible things, like forcing Damon to turn, ripping people in pieces, that erned him the “ripper” name, that chose revenge to Klaus over Elena, threat her on the very bridge she had her parents died, and eventually killed her by saving Matt instead of her; he is the reason Damon and Elena are vampires. So even if Caroline doesn’t like him, doesn’t mean that she is right, Elena is right, she made the right choice by choosing the brother that loves her and protected her even at the risk to be hated for it, that choose always her, that was there for her, the brother that needed to be loved the most, the one she can have fun with, the one that is passionate and reckless like she is, that she can trust completely, that made her feel alive and never judge her, ever and that she can respect since he is not a yes man, she knows she can trust him to give her a piece of his mind if she acts against her best interest. So Damon is not the bad vampire in the TVD universe, the fact that everybody rely on him to be the action man to keep everybody safe, doesn’t make him bad, makes him the person everybody count on, even without realising it. Even if he doesn’t like to show it, in an obvious manner, he does care about lots of people, Jeremy included and that is not only because of Elena, he and him have lots of history together and Jeremy has a special connection with him, connection he never had with Stefan.
