Picard 3x6 Reaction

Apparently Jonathon Archer's body is there too! Why are they collecting the bodies of former captains of the Enterprise???

That body was Kirk?

Amanda Williams

I did when editing for YT.

You didnt notice that Kirks body was in Daystrom ?

What have they done to the old TNG crew? Worf and Geordi especially. Both are just not the same. Geordi has been turned into some rigid bore, and Worf is now a pacifist?! Riker seems to be the only one who remains himself. This series is so much better than the first two, but it still isn't great. There are moments it shines, but it quickly decends again into sentimental mush. I'm going to watch til the end, but what a wasted opportunity, again. :(

One thing I wanted to point out, the USS Defiant on display at the fleet museum isn't the original Defiant because that was destroyed at Chin'toka, this is the second Defiant (previously the USS Sao Paulo) which was never refitted with a cloaking device, at least in the show. I do feel like they are going to use another ship eventually, maybe a "SHOW ME THE D" Galaxy class at some point? I have to say I'm actually really enjoying the 3rd season despite being very cautious about it early on, and if it's not for you that's totally fair, but for me it does feel like my Trek from the old days. This episode had a ton of references, which is often a crutch when there isn't anything else worth your time, but at least for me the references are more than just "Oh I remember that!" because I actually quite enjoy the story being put out there around everything. For example, the HMS Bounty wasn't there for no reason, it served a proper plot purpose, and as long as they tie most of these things to a legitimate reason to exist, I'm happy with that. I also feel like they are specifically telling me with the references "No, your Star Trek hasn't been erased, no matter how many times others have tried, the things you loved are still here and still important to the future." Personally, I quite like the new characters, I could see myself watching Shaw, Jack and even the new bridge crew get more stories. I could definitely nitpick a lot of elements, but to an extent I think they have covered their butts just enough on most of them that they get a pass from me. If I'm truly being fair, I could nitpick TNG quite a bit too... but I don't want to because TNG is awesome. lol

It looks like you’re in the same place I am with this show. It is trying to be respectful of the material but it’s still sloppy and slow-paced. Like you, I feel Shaw is derelict in his duty as Captain, only showing up when he feels like it. What’s the command structure here? I feel like Jack could have a Pah Wraith in him. That would explain the glowing red eyes. As for the Defiant, the cloaking device was on loan so it’s probably been returned. Similarly, the Bounty’s device should have been returned or stored at Daystom. If we think realistically, these ship have no plasma fuel and I’m sure the matter/antimatter engines or warp cores have likewise been shut down or removed. These are museum pieces, not active starships so they would be rendered nonfunctional purely in the interest of safety and ease of maintenance.

I wouldn't call these Memberberries - it's more like Fan Service... in a show that has a shitty Kurtzman/BadRobot writer's room. A lot of the ideas are good but they're all executed half assed. Most of the execution is mediocre but sometimes you get a really good moment and sometimes the show really drags because it's CW level drama (that's always been the show's biggest weakness). BadRobot's stink is ruining what might have been a good meal.

I get your point. This is running on nostalgia more than anything substantial. You, like me, are a big DS9 fan. But this ain't DS9. From memory, no previous Trek show has fully utilised a ship from another show in that way. So why start here. Each has their own, or in some cases, multiple. Regardless, if they did decide to break that tradition and favour that "tough little ship" over all the others. By this point, the Defiant is a museum piece, surpassed by more significant technology. So it makes little to no sense to steal it for a cloaking device it will no longer have. To fight a more advanced ship that this current Titan has been running from. Also, from memory, that Romulan cloaking device was temporarily on loan for the purposes of fighting in the Dominion War. Do correct me if I'm wrong there. whereas the Bird-of-Prey might hypothetically still have its. Either way, if that's the nostalgic writing device they decided to use to get them a cloaking device. It's the more logical option that was presented by that trip down memory lane. I like that Riker is the voice of the audience in this one. So unhappy that too much has changed. 😂
