The Mentalist 3X5: Pink Chanel Suit
Added 2025-08-19 00:45:50 +0000 UTCThis episode kind of suffered from the fact that the last few were amazing episodes. This was a good episode, but with so many great ones preceding it, it felt a little lackluster.
Okay so we've got the daughter of a judge who is missing and her boyfriend is dead. Who did it and where is the daughter?
Security says they are 100% sure that she didn't leave the property (it's a giant ass compound), but a search turned up nothing. Jane is busy trying to see if he could sneak a dead body out of the grounds and immediately gets accosted by security pointing guns at him. Seems like the body still has to be inside.
Coincidentally, the judge's mother had also recently died. During the funeral, Jane shows up claiming he knows where the body is. It's in the casket. So, he has the family doctor open it before they put it in the ground. And no daughter. Just the dead old lady. Jane cannot understand how he was wrong. He was 100% certain he was right.
But, with this defeat, he claims to know exactly what to do. Jane plan activated. He and Lisbon are smooshed together under some kind of table in a stakeout of sorts. Eventually, they hear someone and we see the good doctor dragging a body to (presumably) hide it back into the casket). Once he's next to it, Jane calls him and he and Lisbon burst and catch him in the act.
Turns out, Abby (the dead daughter) is a recovering addict and had relapsed. She tried getting one of the guys around to get her drugs, but he took too long, so they starting paying the doctor to shoot her up. He clams it's a legitimate form of intervention, but this time, she OD'd. And while the doctor was trying to figure out what to do, the boyfriend walked in. What better plan than to kill him and frame Abby for his murder? So that's what he did. He was too scared to lose his livelihood. Not much concern for the two people he just killed though, huh?
