Hart of Dixie 2X8: Achy Breaky Hearts

Ugh. I was so ready for Ruby to be gone. I was sure this was the episode we'd get it. But no. She leaves and comes back (with potentially the intention to leave again?). I think this is a terrible plan. Why not break up now, when you've been dating for only several weeks, rather than 8 months (or whenever) from now when it's going to hurt so much worse?

So, Zoe and Wade are in bed, when George comes knocking. Zoe freaks out and jumps behind the bed to hide, as Wade casually tells him to come in. He's trying to get some time to talk with Wade, but Wade sure that he wants to talk about Zoe, and shuts him down.

Zoe heads to the kitchen and finds Lavon and Ruby being all sexy. She makes some snarky comments to Ruby and she goes to put some clothes on. Lavon tells her she's gonna have to get used to Ruby and learn to deal with it. Zoe tells him she's afraid of him getting hurt, but will do the best she can.

Meanwhile, Lemon and Annabeth are walking through town and see Ruby chatting with a guy who is asking her out for a drink, it's obvious this is a misdirect, but they don't seem to realize it. After he asks multiple times, she finally caves. Lemon has decided she's got to tell Lavon. But, Annabeth tells her they need more proof. So, Zoe to the rescue. Lemon tells Zoe that she needs to accost him and get him to spill the tea. Zoe refuses.

But that doesn't stop Lemon. She grabs the guy and drags him to the office under guise of her suspecting him having pink eye. Zoe examines him and tells him he's fine. But while they are chatting, she finds out that he's headhunting Ruby for a job in Dallas. So that's what she's agreed to. Not a date, but an interview. Which is what Zoe was afraid of. Her leaving Lavon behind.

She tells him and then the three of them have the most awkward dinner ever. Lavon is hinting at stuff and being weird. Ruby finally calls him out on it and she's appalled. Apparently, she turned down the interview and is livid that he's spying on her. He tries to apologize, but now she says she's going on the interview.

Lemon and Zoe end up teaming up to figure out a solution, they come up with some harebrained scheme to swap the cars that are taking Ruby to the airport so Lavon takes her instead. She allows him the ride to plead his case, but she gets on the plane anyway. The next day she comes back and tells him she took the job, but she doesn't start for months, so they can be together until then. Again, this sounds terrible.

While this is happening, Wade and George are on some wilderness retreat with a bunch of kids; all so George can talk to Wade. And it turns out, he wants to ask him if he can date Tansy (totally called that). After he thinks about it, Wade decides no, because he's sure that George would be using Tansy as a placeholder while waiting for Zoe. George assures him he's not, but if he thinks that's what Zoe is doing to him, he should talk to him about it (yeah, he's known about the two of them, and isn't really all that upset).

Armed with this info, Wade heads over to Zoe's to talk to her about it. But when he tells her George knows and isn't upset, the fact that she's upset about it, upsets him. To him that seems to mean that she's still holding out for George and thinks maybe, he's moved on. He decides no sex that night and heads home. Zoe is confused, but graciously lets him go.

Oh, and Brick and Emily broke up. He asked her to move in (after Magnolia finally started to like her), but she said she likes the way her life is.

Ugh. I hate (and am impressed) that I was rooting for Lemon and Levon this episode. I really thought they might get back together when she showed up with that cake. How sad (?) is it that my favorite ship right now is Lemon and Lavon. 😳 (I wish there was an emoji that looked more embarrassed.
