so some fun facts, the "rivalry" was played up in this movie as they do for the drama, at the end you say the real footage that they where really decent friends but once they got into the cars all that was off. But Lauda race form 1971-1979 and then again from 1982-1985 with 25 Wins and 3 Championships (1975,1977,1984) - James Hunt raced from 1973-1979 with 10 Wins (6 of them coming in 1976) and 1 Championship (1976). Niki Lauda is considered one to the greatest minds in the Formula 1, He helped Design the car that Mercedes when he joined them in 2012 that from 2014-2021 won the constructors titles (the team championship) and the drivers championship in 2014-2020, Niki is also the reason Lewis Hamilton drives for Mercedes who won the championships in 2014,2015,2017,2018,2019, and in 2020. Lewis to date a 7-time world champion (1 with McLaren and 6 with Mercedes) which only one ever driver has ever done, and 103 Career wins the most all-time. Sadly Niki Lauda passed away on May 20th 2019 at the age of 70

Only imagining that makes me panic.

2022-12-01 14:18:47 +0000 UTCFor years now I had this movie on my "to watch" list as some of my favourite movie critics highly recommended it (and I really like Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl- both are terrific and very talented and versatile actors!) but I never got around to actually watching it. WHich was probably mostly due to me not liking Forumla 1 AT ALL. When I was a lot younger my father used to wake up early Sunday mornings to watch the races and they took forever to finish...and we only had that one tv so I couldn't watch any of my stuff and I was sooo annoyed. That's why to this day I can't stand Formula 1. But then I saw your reaction to this movie pop up on my patreon feed and it felt like a sign. So I decided to experience this movie with you together and man, let me tell you- I would have never in a million years predicted that I would end up being so ridiculously invested in those two characters and their stupid racing. Heck, I was so nervous during that last race that one of them would end up dying that I couldn't stop fidgeting. And the relief I felt when both of them made it out alive :D I absolutely loved the character development we got with Niki. And their rivalry was so fun to watch. I loved the shift after Niki's accident. The mutual respect that started to grow between them. Bloody brilliant. I even got a little teary eyed there at the end. I had so much fun watching and expieriencing this movie with you. Thanks man for giving me that little extra push (by posting a reaction, lol) so that I finally watched that movie. Would have been a real shame if I'd never watched it.
