The Vampire Diaries 5X13: Total Eclipse of the Heart

I liked a lot about this episode, but I'm already fed up with no one realizing that Elena is Katherine. I get she's trying a lot harder to pull this off now than ever before. But, we've had several occasions were she's just walked into a room and Caroline has known it isn't Elena.

So, we've got Katherine happy as a clam that she's living Elena's life. And her next goal is to figure out how to start dating Stefan again. But first, she has to deal with Caroline and her happy optimism about going to a dance for bitter lonely people. What the hell kind of dance is this? She debates asking Stefan, but has to run it by Matt first to see if it sounds right.

And Stefan, for his part, comes home to Aaron's (?) car crashed on the porch and Arron dead in the trunk. When he gets in the house, he finds a hungover Damon and a trashed house. Apparently, 'Elena' breaking up with him has sent him off the deep end and he's back to being 'Bad Damon' (not that I'm complaining, 'Bad Damon' is super entertaining to watch). But, his next step is to get together with Enzo and kill Wes.

And speaking of Wes, he's got a newly turned vampire to try to get attached to vampire blood. While he's working on him, some girl comes in and tells him she wants to give him funding for his projects, but he declines, saying there are too many strings that come along with outside funding.

At the weirdest dance of all time, Bonnie and Jeremy show up together (but not together) and Damon hunts them down. He needs Bonnie to find him a witch to do a locator spell to find Wes. Bonnie doesn't know any witches here, but she saw a girl spin a pen the other day and gives it a shot, since Damon has threatened to kill Jeremy if she doesn't help. She agrees to try and Enzo kidnaps and holds Jeremy to make sure she does.

When Katherine finds out Jeremy was taken, she checks with Nadia to see if she can just let him die. Nadia assures her there is no universe where Elena wouldn't save him, so she goes along with Stefan and reluctantly brings him back to life after Enzo has suffocated him with a plastic bag.

Damon and Enzo head out to kill Wes and Stefan tells him not to come back, which Damon seems fine with. They get to lab and a bunch of Travelers are there and they use some magic to subdue them. While that is happening, Wes injects Damon with the vampire cannibal stuff. When he wakes up, he immediately feeds and kills Wes's newest vampire. Then he turns to Enzo and Enzo realizes this is an issue. I feel like Enzo will stick around for a while. Damon needs a bad boy friend. Unless he kills him. Then he'll probably retreat even further into the 'Bad Damon.'

And Katherine and Stefan have a moment, that if we couldn't see her gloating throughout, would feel very Elena like. She tells Stefan that now that Damon has killed Aaron, she can never go back to him. But, she will help Stefan try to save him.
