So to the point of the Chief Engineer, while yes probably not the smartest Idea to put her in there, if anything happened to her, one I would hope there would have been an 0-3 to take her place as Chung is only an 0-2 (she's a 0-4) but he still would have help from the Senior Chief (the guy in the red hat you see down in engineering) who has just as much if not more experience then the chief engineer, he just happens to be enlisted, I would say the only person that isn't replaceable is the Master Chief, as the whole point of his job is his years in the Navy, because while Tom and the XO might have 15-20 years experience each Master Chief probably has closer to 30-40 years. Though one thing that being near the Naval Base the Nathan James is meant to be out of, if you go back and look at the background there are mountains even though the closet mountain is 6 hours away, but thats just because they filmed that part in Cali not VA so we laugh at it
