For whatever reason I did not think we'd be getting a Red John episode so soon. And, when all the officers were shot, I briefly thought maybe, but there was no face on the wall. I guess I just had to wait a little bit longer.
Okay, so everyone minus Lisbon, is pulled out of bed in the middle of the night to head to a cemetery when they find a dead body there. While he's on the way in, Jane gets a call from Bosco telling him to stop by his office later so they can talk. But before that, we find a naked guy with yellow flowers propped up to cover his nakedness. The ME and Jane figure out that he was frozen somewhere else and than left here.
Once they get back to the office, they are walking with Bosco's secretary into his office. As soon a we get in the door, we see all three agents on the ground, shot and seemingly dead. We quickly determine that two are dead and Bosco is just barely hanging on. Jane and Lisbon perform CPR on him while Cho runs around locking down the perimeter. However, one member of Bosco's team is missing and no one can locate him.
Jane asks about the ID on the naked guy at the cemetery, but no one feels like helping him in the wake of the tragedy we're dealing with (Bosco is at the hospital, he's lost a ton of blood and not doing well, but he's alive- so far). When Jane suspects a connection between Bosco and the naked guy though, Lisbon is happy to try to help him with that. (I 100% thought Jane was lying about this just to get them to help him ID him).
But, it turns out, Jane is familiar with the dead guy. He's a doctor who had two Red John victims as his patients. He immediately takes off, heading for the doctor's office. Lisbon and Cho are in hot pursuit. As soon as Jane arrives, the first thing he sees is Red John's mark on the wall. When he finally opens the door, he sees the last member of Bosco's team, dead on a table. Lisbon and Cho show up almost as soon as Jane as opened the door.
Full disclosure: I have no idea how we get here, but Grace is showing us X-rays and somehow Jane knows about Red John's murder 9 years ago. And he assumes there is some evidence he left behind that he's now got to cover up. And somehow, that leads him and Cho to head over to a morgue to retrieve a body (along with some DNA and blood samples) only to be told that CBI had picked the body up the night prior. They meet with the guy who signed the body over and realize he gave the body to Bosco's secretary.
She then shows up at the hospital where Bosco is recuperating with the intention to finish him off. As she pulls a gun out of her purse (how the hell did she get the gun in there?) Lisbon and Grace attack her and put her in cuffs.
Back at the station, they let Jane talk to her and he tries to tell her that Red John doesn't care about her. But she's convinced he loves her and she loves him. When Jane asked why she killed the team, she's surprised that he doesn't understand. Red John misses him and wants him back on the case. While she's being walked to jail someone rubs some gel on her and she pretty much dies instantly. This just happened. Only so many people are near her. Plus, it's jail. There's a record of who's in it right? How can we not figure out who did this pretty much immediately?
At the hospital, Bosco knows he's dying. Lisbon lies and tells him he's fine, but then relents and tells him he's lost too much blood. He confesses his love to Lisbon and then asks for Jane. He tells Jane that Red John makes mistakes; this proves it. Jane can catch him and when he does, don't arrest him. Kill me. Which was Jane's plan all along. And then, Bosco dies.
While we toasting to Bosco, Jane wanders into his office and starts in reading whatever he's got on Red John.
Oh, and Minelli has decided to retire (of course he has because I just learned his name).
