It was so nice to actually see us get to help and save someone. Usually, we don't get there until after someone is dead. So, it was a nice change of pace to see the victim alive at the end of the episode.
Lisbon's team and Bosco's teams both show up at the same scene. However, they are both investigating different things. Bosco is looking into a kidnapping, and Lisbon has caught the case of a dead, mummified corpse. And when the chief realizes they ended up at the same place with their guns drawn at each other, he insists the teams work together for the sake of interoffice harmony. (It doesn't hurt that they think their cases are connected as well).
Bosco, Lisbon, and Jane head over to talk to the kidnap victim's sister. They are very wealthy and a random has been demanded for the safe return. Jane, ends up very bluntly talking to the sister, which make both her and her husband upset. This causes the husband to tell Bosco that he has to fire Jane. Bosco refuses. Then the wife comes out and thanks Jane. So, Lisbon leaves the two of the there and heads back to check in with Grace.
Grace figures out that the house the victim is being held in was also used to sell drugs out of not to long ago. They get the name of someone and a last location, so Grace, Rigsby, and one of the guys from Bosco's team head over to canvass. Rigsby, sick of being made fun of by the other guy refuses to wear a vest. Grace pleads with him, but no dice. While they are looking, Grace runs into the actual person they are looking for, and she shoots her several times in the chest (while Rigsby and the other guy are busy arguing about stupid bullshit).
Since she's wearing the vest she's okay, and tells Rigsby to go after her. He and other dude do and track to some basement she's broken into. However, she's got a mirror so she can keep tabs on them, but they can't see her. She's just about to shoot the other guy, with Rigsby sees her and shoots her dead, saving the other guy's life.
Meanwhile, Jane is trying to convince Bosco to let him go with his Jane plan. He keeps denying him. So, eventually Jane takes matters into his own hands (or so it seems- it turns out everyone was in on it). He's convinced that there is a mole in the house who is feeding info back to the kidnappers. So, he sets up a scenario where the video the ransom money and go see who tampers with it.
It's the nanny. She immediately pulls the tracker out of the suitcase and then calls the other guys to tell them the money is coming. However, she's accosted right away. They take her phone, trace the call, and manage to get over to the house and save the girl. It's all really lovely.
At the end of the episode, Bosco tells Jane that he doesn't consider him a cop, but he does offer a unique perspective and offers to share the Red John information with him. Jane asks for the un-redacted version, but it's a start, right? I don't think they are every going to be BFFS, but at least on the same side is probably better for everyone.
