I didn't love this episode. Perhaps it's because I watched it directly after The Originals and I thought that episode was so good, I was sort of disappointed?
Okay, so Elena and Katherine both wake up from the same dream about Stefan being in some bar where he leaves and gets burned up in the sun. The two of them and Damon start trying to find the bar. When they get there the bartender gives Damon a shot with vervain (because Nadia told her to) so he's a bit useless at the moment. Elena tells Katherine to run and she and Nadia fight for a bit. Once Damon recovers they decide he'll keep looking for Stefan and Elena will find Katherine.
But as soon as Elena finds her, Nadia finds the two of them. I don't remember what happened to Elena at this point, but Nadia drags Katherine over to the car where Silas forces her to give him Katherine, by mind controlling her to shoot herself (she doesn't actually do it).
Turns out, Stefan was basically kidnapped by Qetsiyah (we're calling her Tessa now which is much easily to spell) and we get the Silas backstory. Turns out, Tessa and Silas were in love at fated to marry. They loved each other so much that she made a potion for them to take so they could live forever together. But, he stole the potion and ran off with his actual love Tessa's handmaiden (the original Elena doppelgänger). A scorned Tessa then created a cure, gave it to Amara (the handmaiden) and killed her. She tried to get Silas to take it too, but he refused, so she locked him away with it hopefully that eventually he'd take it. But, he never did. So now, in the present day, she busy trying to kill him again (she got her when the veil was down and I guess figured out how to stay).
Damon finally manages to find Stefan, but Tessa refuses to let him leave until she's done with him. She does some spell on him that causes Stefan a lot of pain, but since he is Silas' doppelgänger, also effects Silas. She manages to break Silas' mind control power (right as he was having Nadia shoot herself, which is why she didn't) and leaves Stefan unconscious.
She then explains to Damon how the Silas and Elena doppelgängers are meant to be together and it's why the doppelgängers always end up together. She tells him he doesn't have a chance with her as she is fated for Stefan. He and Elena decide this is bullshit and continue on with life.
We also find out that Silas wants Katherine since her blood is now the cure. He wants to drain her so the cure is gone (if I understand correctly, but then wouldn't he have taken the cure?) and Tessa wants the cure so she can give it to Silas and kill him (again, if I understand correctly).
Back at the boarding house, Stefan finally wakes up. Elena and Damon are so happy that he's home and okay. But then he drops the bomb that he has no idea who they are. I'm guessing whatever spell Tessa did wiped his memory. So we've got that to deal with. I wonder if blank slate Stefan is going to fall in love with Elena all over again. Or if Damon and Elena will now feel less guilty about flaunting their love in front of him.
Oh, and Matt's now got the consciousness of a dead Traveler in him. Fun.
