The Fosters 3X8: Daughters

I really, really enjoyed this episode. As much as I love Callie with the Fosters, I miss her being with the other girls at Girls United.

So, Callie has been staying with Rita (not at GU, at her actual house) while they sort out the adoption issues. Rita is out on a date and Callie is home alone when Rita's daughter shows up. Callie lets her in only for Rita to come home and two of them to get into a fight. Turns out, she's kind of a nightmare kid (with a bipolar disorder diagnosis) and has stolen from Rita in the past. And this time, we find out that she stole a check.

Rita puts a stop order on it, and when she and Callie return home the next day, her daughter is waiting for them. She's upset that Rita canceled the check and tells her she's a terrible mother and why her father killed himself. Rita loses her temper and slaps Chloe in the face. Back inside, she tries to justify her actions to Callie (while still claiming she was wrong and did everything she taught the girls not to). Callie seems to forgive her easily.

However, Rita is short and snippy and generally just at the end of her rope right now. The girls at GU notice and are walking around on eggshells.

Jude, who overhears Brandon in a fight with the moms (more on that later), gets upset, ditches his math test, yells at Lena and runs to Rita's to talk to Callie. Callie assures him that it's okay to have feelings and that Lena will 100% forgive him. She reminds him that she's done much worse and they still want her.

When Rita brings them back home, she gets a call from GU and she and Callie race back over. Turns out two of the girls are in a fight and when Rita heads upstairs to deal with it, we hear something like 'You, bitch,' and a slap. When we get upstairs we see one of the girls has a busted face. Rita says we need to call the cops and we get Stef over. However, when she gets here, the girl claims Rita tried to break up the fight and she hit her. Rita denies this, but the other girl says it's true. (We need to note here that girl #2 is new and doesn't like Rita or her rules). So at two against one, they handcuff Rita and take her away.

I truly do not know what to believe here. It's seems crazy that both girls (especially that one that got hit, as Rita just did her a huge solid) would say Rita hit her when she didn't. But, it also feels like Rita could have just said, 'I tried to break up the fight and accidentally hit her.' But she didn't. She went for an adamant denial.

Meanwhile, both Brandon and Callie are visited by a caseworker to see if it's okay for Callie to get adopted under the same roof as him. Unfortunately, they both given different versions of the timeline so I don't know what that's gonna mean for the future. They really should have coordinated beforehand.

Later, Brandon blows up at Stef and Lena when he finds out this is all happening because Callie and AJ kissed. He feels like he's constantly in a revolving door of siblings and no one ever checks to see if he's okay with any of it. And as much as I rag on Stef and Lena for their relationship, I do think they are good parents. Stef heads up to Brandon's room and apologizes. And I think it's a damn good one too. She also tells him that he doesn't want Mike to foster AJ he should tell him. And she'll back him. I'm pro it.
