This Iconic Bridge Killed Its Builders [PATREON-EXCLUSIVE DOCUMENTARY]

Oh hi hello Patrons,

It's always, I feel, a good day to be our patron. But today is possibly...the best day EVER to be a patron? This is our first full length, fully realized video we've ever uploaded directly to Patreon.

Let's see how it goes, shall we! Will I like it, will you all like it? Who can say, life unfolds before our very eyes.

NOTE: This video is uploaded directly to Patreon (click play above), but an unlisted Youtube link can also be found HERE.

The goal is to keep these larger videos free ALWAYS. (Cut to me at a Victorian orphanage begging for a shilling after my performance of a monologue on the necropolitics of a 15th century mummy.)

Today our offering is the story of TOES! BRIDGE SACRIFICES! SOMETHING CALLED A CAISSON (it's awful)! HORRIFIC SYMPTOMS! STAMPEDE!

In other news, tell me your latest obsession. Whether I like it or not, mine is Titanic. We are now like, year three? two? of Titanic-all-day-every-day. Even if you don't like/aren't much interested in Titanic, I'm going to make you LIKE TITANIC with this book.

Until next time petunias,

Caitlin

Phenomenal video. 10/10 would sacrifice to a bridge

QueenofAngryMoths

My favourite bridge is Ironbridge in Ironbridge, it crosses the Ironbridge gorge, you'll never guess what the bridge is made of. Also quite a fan of some of IKB's bridges

Alexandria-Ottilia-S

I loved this video

timb3rart

Hi Hi, is there any chance for access to English subtitles to this vid? the only options seem to be "off" or "Norwegian". If subtitles are impossible, a script I can read along to would be handy

Fane

It’s funny that you recently made this video because I was just talking to my husband about how I don’t know how large bridges like this are made - wondering how on earth they construct the middle of the structure. Also - I know you moved awhile back but I’m only just catching up (and realizing you’ve largely moved to patreon and that’s why I haven’t seen as many videos from you - whoop whoop for being a brand new patreon member!), but hooray for living on the east coast! You went from living the furthest from me as possible to right next door (I’m in Connecticut!) so yay! Very belated welcome! And many many thanks for incredible content, awesome books, and jingles I have started to harass my twelve year old daughter with: “the bubonic plague in America! It was RATS!” 😁❤️

Bookish

After the collision last night, the first things I thought were from this video. The bridge just keeps claiming lives, and of course it had to be the Brooklyn side without a solid foundation that got hit...

Jill Krippel

Caitlin, as usual, you did fantastic work here! I've been a patron for a few years now, I thought under Laura Jarrell but possibly under petpeopleluv@gmail.com? I didn't see either. (silly pout!) But, I think you have such beauty and talent, I always try to remind your humble highness! Our Queen of the Good Death! Oh, isn't that what euthanasia means, lol. Oh and speaking of bridges, I lived in Lake Havasu, AZ,(London Bridge?) before Mom and I combined SS and bought in Kingman, AZ an hour away, on Rte.66!👍🏼💙💝💙💖💙🥰✌

Laura Jarrell

The Silver Bridge collapse in Point Pleasant, WV, and I’d personally love a little Mothman thrown in there. You could at the very least mention people’s obsession with placing money between the buttocks of the statue 😂

Amanda Bohart

Really enjoyed the topic , as well as the brief James Bond cameo and the hottest club segment

big stretch

loved this! The Margaret Bridge connecting the two halves of Budapest was built a decade earlier than the Brooklyn Bridge and took quite a toll itself. National poet János Arany has a ballad about the superstition that a bridge is dedicated by the suicides committed from it. Here's a contemporary illustration: https://jakd.hu/kep/0000025943.jpg

Réka Kinga Papp

Currently obsessed with death practices…..and…..also…..as I’m sure you might have heard of especially with your writings of the titanic, WHY DO THE COOKS ALWAYS SURVIVE SHIPWRECKS?????? Is it the way the ships are designed? Do cooks have better instincts for these odd things?

Sarah Jenkins

In no particular order, I propose the following bridges... 1. the point pleasant bridge collapse sans Mothman emphasis 2. Hyatt Regency Walkway collapse 3. Ponts das Barcas disaster

Nicole Bean

When you get to *spoiler* about what killed Robling and you start cheering "DTaP DTaP Shoot me up baby!"

Elisabeth

A latest obsession... Maybe this is off-topic, but I do love to explore death culture(s) and practices in fictional universes, like Star Wars or Transformers! I come back to the topic quite often! (Luckily, I have friends who will happily listen to my excited ramblings and even share their own thoughts!)

Mx. Nick

Omg please tell the story of the bridge in Baltimore, MD where it was hit by a ship and collapsed. I really want to know the story of the poor crew that was on it and the lives that were saved by the quick thinking of the ships crew and the bridge tower workers. The image of it collapsing is burned in my brain. I couldn’t sleep that night and saw it being reported in the middle of the night and the whole thing is wild.

Christina Ferreira

Y'all, I just saw this https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/american-mummy/54933955/?resultid=545d5079-569c-457c-a477-cc520a0c31ee#isbn=B0DTYT2HXZ and all I can think is 🎵 uh-MERi-cUN MUMMEEEE🎵🎼

Chelsey Kendig

Favorite bridge? I'm fond of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, but there's something special to me about the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway north of New Orleans. When I lived there, I hated it--24 miles of monotony, or worse, 24 miles of bad weather driving and traffic. But now that I only visit the area, I can appreciate the novelty of such a big structure. (Plus, it's neat to watch the pelicans soaring on the drafts created by the cars.)

Meredith Sutton

I was born in Brooklyn and remember learning about the people who died in the construction but holy cats i did not know about the CASSION CLUB!!!! That was so interesting! I am so excited for the Titanic book, I've been interested in anything Titanic for many years. MY current hyperfixation is one I've had for years - TORNADOES.

Jenne Foronjy

I'm finally getting to watching this! :D … was put off at first by the subtitles being apparently in… norwegian!? they're not. they're in the exected english (and very good, oh gosh i'm SO thankful for that)* but— it would be nice to get the right language as label… * oh no i need to edit that. nope some parts have… problems. unfortunately, i am getting very very used to subtitle problems, soooo i took notes: - Around the start of the caisson explanations, there's a weird lingering of previous lines that makes reading the new ones difficult… and that's where i started noticing things, because that's where the ear-brain conduit got tired and i started actually needing the subtitles :] - 15:47: 'a fellow caisson worker', but 'caisson' is rendered as 'Quezon'. - that james bond insert? i HIGHLY DOUBT that anyone in there is *farting*. wth?? - … please get these subtitles and any subsequent ones proofread better? :( as i always say when i have to make a comment like this, and it is *disturbingly* frequent: subtitles are supposed to help. i'm not deaf, so i still have an idea of what is happening, eeexcept when i absolutely do not (english is not my first language), and that's usually a time when auto-generated subtitles are *bad*. all in all, i have come to *dread* watching videos like these when i suspect i'll need subtitles, because the start is nice, and then it deteriorates and stuff gets annoying, and confusing, and just… exhausting, in the end. again: *i am not even deaf*, imagint how *deeply confused* that "fart" sonor indication must be to a deaf person!? we just had a mention of testicle pain and now a scene of torture seems to illustrate that with *fart noise* wtfh!?? … please. please i beg you in the name of everyone who needs subtitle for one reason or another. please do better :(

Daelf Derechef

It's been a couple of weeks... how did things go with viewing of this video? Really hoping it was good and worth doing more this way.

Yvette Foster

Your a funny gal :)

Pintius

I know you are joking about bridges, but my great grandfather died on the Halfpenny Bridge in Dublin. Like, if you are in need of a weird bridge anecdote some time.

Laura Magnier

Okay, but for real, Hank Green says he likes to ask people what their favorite bridge is. I guess it's not such a crazy question?

DeAnn Schlatter

CHRISTINA LAKE BRIDGE. BC Canada. ALSO there's an amazing story about the floating bridge on Kelowna BC and Ogopogo (lake monster).

Eden Standing

Not unusual at all! This is mostly working age men-death, no children.

Caitlin Doughty

Unusual question: Do you talk about any babies or kiddos dying in this video? Very excited to watch but my PPA is a real B. May need to save for a later time otherwise

Molly Anger

I've been on a Werner Herzog kick lately.

Captain Mick

I think we covered that, and then some 😬

Oscar Leigh

😶😶😶😶 I was not expecting THAT

Oscar Leigh

Current obsession: Manip--- hooking readers within a few sentences to read a novel. One of my high school teachers (Mr. W---) was, apparently, a big researcher on the Titanic. I remember him telling the story of how he literally saved a guy from going overboard while doing an interview on camera. We'd get whole lectures on how inaccurate the movie was and what actually happened. Good times!

Jessica Templeton

This was so, SO good!

Debbie Scheibler

I can't say I've ever been interested in bridges before but this video but I think I might be now. This was harrowing. Titanic is my lifelong obsession so I'm right there with you Caitlin. I'm currently doing a reread of "On Board RMS Titanic" by George Behe. I'm also deep in the trenches of Chernobyl obsession (again) at the moment.

Meg

"Working with an injured foot? Couldn't be me!" says woman who broke her leg and came out of sabbatical twice (*I know it was more than just an injury ok)

BeeGrenade

Check out the story of Stanley Fox, Titanic victim from Rochester NY. I don't know the whole story but it's something like this: some random woman went to Halifax and claimed to be his wife to try and get the insurance money. She claimed his body and got on the train back to Rochester with it. Meanwhile his real wife got wind of this somehow and notified the authorities so they could intercept the train, remove Mr. Fox and arrest the phony Mrs. Fox when she got back to Rochester. Also the poor guy did at least get to celebrate his birthday on this ship before it went down.

Morrow's Jewels

Yeah, but his son finished the job.

Jim Allen

My favorite bridges are the ones over the Cape Cod Canal, the Bourne and the Sagamore. During WWI German nationals who were forced by the Wilson administration to remain in the U.S. to keep them from fighting in the war blew up Black Tom Island in NYC harbor. It sent shrapnel so far that it pierced the Statue of Liberty. FDRs decision to inter Japanese and German nationals during WWII was partly predicated on this event. The Statue of Liberty had shrapnel holes in it until it was repaired in 1985-1986 for it's centenary.

Kitty Bits

"Give me Liberty OR give me death " - hahaha -sick.

Marguerite Mikelyn Allred Crawford

this spring i’ve been really in to gertrude abercrombie and the dissolution of the ministries act

Yevka D

My favorite bridges are the ones you've made back and forth from one kind of high-quality content to another! 😁 Always awesome, thank you for all of your work!

Katie Biddle

Fascinating and horrifying -- just what I want in a bridge!

Mina Murray

My great grandfather always talked about being present for the opening of two great engineering marvels: the Brooklyn Bridge and the Panama Canal. Thanks for helping me understand his experience a bit better. PS speaking of infrastructure with a gnarly body count, David McCullough also has a pretty great book about the Panama Canal…

Cedar Petrichor

Related to John Augustus Roebling: how about the Carola Bridge in Dresden / Germany, which collapsed last September?

Susann Just

Balance of Terror from TOS.

Jim Allen

As a Marylander who both loves and fears the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, I beg you to do a video about it! This one was super interesting and made me mutter "what the fuck" and "are you kidding" several times

James Sullivan

Iconic bridge to study and document—The Silver Bridge near Poijt Pleasant , West Virginia. Interestingly enough, that’s the location of the Mothman. That was a horrific disaster that should never be forgotten. It’s also rumored that some Native American graves were disturbed right before the disaster. Not sure if that’s true but it’s rumored. Great job as usual. I miss iconic corpses and all other things mortician. Maybe you could do some of that occasionally? Please? And thank you!

Amethyst Samia

Bridges*

Sarah Williams

I really enjoyed this one, great work as usual! If you wanna research any other beiges, Eads Bridge in St. Louis, Missouri is really interesting and iconic.

Sarah Williams

Thank you for making these videos. I love history. These videos help me feel more comfortable with my own mortality.

Joseph Douglas Watson

Could not be me either. Haha 😆

Nobody.pdf

lol you should do the mackinaw bridge

Robert Blaisdell

Condolences on your loss 🤍 If you haven't read it yet, I recommend reading "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes". She kind of touches on her experience with suicide deaths from Golden Gate.

Abigail Salazar

My friends and I call our Sunday brunch Bridge Club so this is PERFECT!

Elizabeth Dooley

Roebling's erection! Sorry, it's from Kate and Leopold. I do prefer the Mackinac Bridge though.

Sue Hickman

Caitlin & Co. should see if they can get on Nebula. F YouTube.

Jillianne Hamilton

Ohh, I got shivers when he stopped the project-no more lives.

Bev

Oh, same pay as it was a couple of years ago. Hopefully we won’t go back.

Bev

I often wonder if the Egyptians had issues like this? They seem to of had their stuff together pretty good. I’m sure some slipped down the side.

Bev

😳no Anesthesia ? Idiot.

Bev

Bridge-Erton. (Favorite.)😄😄 Thanks for my new information and trivia skill!

Bev

How loose a definition of bridge are we allowing here? Because if we're counting land bridges, then the one Alexander the Great had built so he could get his siege towers to the island of Tyre is mine. If we're only talking *bridge* bridges, then London Bridge.

animex75

Could u start a partition we could all sign to let YouTube know what u do and to stop messing with it? Love what you do and appreciate all content

Eliza

Hey...that's the bridge i bought from Honest Harry's Best Bridges last April!

Phil Rounds

There's always the Tay Bridge and Forth Bridge in Scotland to look at.

Catherine Rowley-Williams

Ok, but no joke, would love for you to cover the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s the bridge with the second highest rate of suicides in the world. I’d be interested to know how often and in what manner bodies are recovered. And having lost a loved one to suicide myself, I’m interested to hear how some parts of the funeral industry handles the deceased differently when compared to other causes of death.

Laura Horrorshow

And then there is the Skyway Bridge spanning the mouth of Tampa Bay. One of the pilings was hit by a freight ship and broke off, collapsing a large chunk of bridge. It being night and some how message of a giant hole in the bridge didn't happen so a lot of cars and a Greyhound bus drove off the bridge into the bay. Lots of people died. The replacement bridge was built with buffers to be hit guarding the bridge from a second collapse. But they built the bridge at such an elevation that our lovely Gulf breeze at that altitude is fast enough to move vehicles side ways and when it gets a little too windy they just close the bridge, trapping people on whatever side they happen to be on. It can take hours to drive around the bay to get to the other side.

Cyn

Well, how about Memorial Bridge (between Washington, DC and Arlington, VA)? I'm pretty sure some sort of important funeral processions used it at some point.

James Hayden

Enjoyed it very much and looking forward to more. No pressure😘

Pamela L Fandrich

You explained my LIFELONG curiosity about bridges with that caisson information! What a crazy, well-presented story that was. Also, the joke about nepotism provided well needed laugh at the moment. My current obsession is consuming everything about abusive parents and trying to understand the psychological processes involved. But once you finish that book, I'm planning to switch for a brief obsession with Titanic right away c;

Rei

Not at all! I've often wished they could collaborate!

Jessica Foust

i have become fascinated by weird little bits of historical trivia right now, but i've always been obsessed with anatomy. i'm not going to infodump right here (trying my best not to), but i think bodies are a locomotive miracle. it's a meat pudding battery powering an entire system of more meat, condensed salts and minerals, and water. what's not to love? live things are amazing. dead things too. anyway, i'm rambling. i love that you took the jump to patreon-only specials, and i love the dedication and love you put into this video. thank you, caitlin!

Rodrigo, a hamster

Am I the only one who thinks, that doing a crossover with the 'well there's your problem' podcast would be a great idea?

rebecca

The original Narrows Bridge was the first things that came to mind when she mentioned bridges so I second this suggestion. The only thing I'll add is that Gertie's Ghost, the sculpture downtown, isn't made out of parts of the original bridge. The tentacles were built to look like railroad trusses by a couple of Bay Area based artist, in homage to the legend of Gertie. I'm assuming railroad trusses were chosen since it was commissioned by Sound Transit and sits along the Point Defiance Bypass.

Jessica Liddle

You should do the original Tacoma Narrows Bridge, aka "Galloping Gertie" thanks to actual film footage of the bridge bucking and twisting itself to death Local legends say the largest Giant Pacific Octopus in the world (named Gertie, of course) lives inside the ruins, and a local sculptor actually used girders from the fallen bridge to make an iron octopus sculpture in downtown Tacoma. No people died when the bridge danced itself to death, but a three legged spaniel named Tubby tragically lost his life after being accidentally trapped in a car when his owners rushed to safety on foot. Favorite bridge distaster ever and certainly worthy of a video now that we're a bridge channel.

Strange Universe

Well those caissons went roebling along.... Unlike a bridge never cross me!! etc. Great commentary through an historical portal. In order to obtain a contract to build giant bridges and statues in that part of the world the chief creator of the project had to have a middle name that was a derivation of the name Augustus. And with that.......

ROBERT A GROSSMAN

Absolutely love your videos. God bless you

Claire Dimler-Smith

I wonder if my friends who hail from that area know this history of the bridge? I enjoyed this episode!

Steven Murden

I’m forever obsessed with Star Trek. I wonder if there are any good episodes about death… will think on it…

Casey Ford

In the voice of Hugh Jackman as His Grace Leopold Alexis Elijah Walker Thomas Gareth Mountbatten, 3rd Duke of Albany in the 2001 cinematic masterpiece "Kate and Leopold": Good Lord, it still stands. The world has changed all around it, but Roebling's erection still stands!

Kelsey Ward

I really love the old covered bridges in the Midwest and South. They look like they've got a good (ghost?) story to go right along with them.👻😵‍💫 Tragic the deaths that happened while the Brooklyn Bridge was being built!🥺 NYC alone has such massive, impressive bridges. They've always fascinated me.

Cindy Stott

The Dude abides!

Julia Smith

Fellow Android user here.🙋🏼‍♀️ I'm sorry for the trouble you've been having. I was able to play the entire video (eventually) BUT 3 times it stopped. A notice appeared telling me something like I had lost the connection. I tapped the play button and it'd go back to playing. Our issues could be the same or different, but that's my unimpressive "helpful hint" for you.😀 Blessings from California!🌴😎

Cindy Stott

The Mackinac Bridge!

Pj Dudinetz

The Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge in downtown Boston, Massachusetts spanning the Charles River is the cable-stayed bridge with the world's widest roadbed for such a bridge, at some 183 feet (56 m), encompassing ten lanes of traffic. It is also the first cable-stayed bridge with an asymmetrical deck design, with two of the 10 lanes cantilevered from the south side of the main bridge deck.

E Grace Noonan

oh and my favorite bridge is a really boring one maybe a mile from my house. It took five tries and two decades to build it right it was finally finished in 2023. Ironically a different bridge on my commute was then torn down to be rebuilt.

Melissa Roth

4 minutes in and my toes are curled in fear for themselves….as for latest obsession probably woodworking youtube videos I know I am many years late, but I am a woodworker and have been stuck on near bed rest (back injury bc gravity hates me) for almost six weeks…

Melissa Roth

Same here since my cat passed two weeks ago 😢

Brigette

Have you ever seen Cannibal! The Musical? It was made by Trey Parker and Matt Stone before they started South Park. It's based off of Alferd Packer and is ridiculously goofy and funny.

Brigette

UGH i'm so mad I want to watch this so badly but it won't play on my android :( :( :(

Emily H.

In this episode I've learned: The origin of the word limelight. That the Dutch word "Caissonziekte" which is still being used alongside decompression sickness, originated with the building of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Eef Neleman

My obsession rn is the 40th anniversary concert from The Real Group, which I have been watching daily since they dropped it on YouTube in December. They're one of the worlds best A Cappella groups.

Stephen Radzik

Another great video <3

Snepaj

I'm forever obsessed with Julie Andrews.

angela lucas

Thanks for this again highly interesting video. Made my day instantly better. And regarding petunias, I'm now sure you have the Heart of Gold :-)

Wolfgang Zenker

Also my favorite bridge is a tie between the Golden Gate (trying to spot the Farallon Islands as I crossed the bridge on the way north from SFO is my "coming home" ritual) and the Leonard P Zakim-Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge in Boston because it has a great name, and I watched it get built, and it looks like an angel.

BestStressed

Have you ever read Passage, by Connie Willis? It feels like it might be up your alley.

BestStressed

I used to live in Cincinnati where the Brooklyn Bridge’s prototype Suspension Bridge lives; that ignited my bridge passion many years ago. Thank you for a wonderful deep dive into the human cost of such engineering marvels, and thank the gods for OHSA!

Nancy Reid

Fabulous video as always! Favourite bridges: Golden Gate (San Francisco) and the lost bridge in Chicago known as Suicide Bridge. I think it was eventually in the 1920s but I'll bet you could dig up photos!. Current obsession: baroque goth rock by the husband/wife duo Valentine Wolfe. Thank you for another awesome video!!

Jane Ellen

You have such a way presenting these cool documentaries, love it! This was so interesting and entertaining.

JuliaO

Yet another great documentary. Thank you!

Todd Chittenden

I am loving this!!

Kemi Stanton

Also very much looking forward to the book! My interest turned black hole of obsession and research is Mount St Helens. I read a book on the eruption and wanted to visualize where all the people were better so I started making a google map and what seems like 5000 hours later I have a nice learning and teaching tool I think. I find something new and its like a trigger word... MAP. Must map! https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1CchUgw_ngpBJ14-X8Ecza5I2D8HwQ9YE&usp=sharing

K2

The Forth Rail Bridge in Scotland is gorgeous, although it did kill 78 men while it was being constructed. There's a memorial to them on the South Queensferry side.

Shelley MacAskill

The Ashtabula Bridge railroad disaster.

Jessica Davenport

Of course this video covers tetanus the day after I stepped on a rusty nail 😩 😂

Ronda Herriott

The St. John's bridge in Portland, Oregon is gorgeous. <3

Jonathan Causey

I saw video about that on The Great Courses Plus.

Jessica Davenport

Bridge channel! I like the Chesapeake Bridge Tunnel, its both! Also, great video- as a diver and a miner I've heard about this a few times, this was unfortunately the way we learned about a lot of this pressure stuff

K2

And I thought the Golden Gate Bridge killed all the people. I also want to get a tetanus shot after watching the beginning lol

Sara Marshall

Massively edifying as always ❤️❤️❤️

Teri Torchia

What horrible deaths.

Cheryl Kinkaid

Been fully obsessed with the musical Swept Away recently, which itself is loosely based on the book The Custom of the Sea, another shipwreck cannibalism time.

Thomas G.

My grandson is so into the titanic but lately his interest has moved a little towards the RMS Lusitania

Claire Hills

So excited that you have a new video up! My current obsession is Victorian mourning rings, particularly the ones that use hair as ornamentation. If I were independently wealthy, I'd collect them.

D T

This was such a good video. You could do the Tay Bridge - I'm always just a bit freaked out going through Dundee on the train because you can still see the remains of the original bridge while you're crossing on the later one. The first one collapsed in a gale while a train was crossing it.

Just Like Bunny

The Royal Gorge Bridge in Colorado. See further comment on YouTube. I could get close captioning there.

Elizabeth L. French

Caitlin, I know you are busy as sin, but you need to read this book at some point. It's the intersection of everything you are covering these days. https://archive.org/details/greatironship00duga

Matthew Ricchezza

Eads Bridge in St. Louis. Almost a decade older than the Brooklyn Bridge, and another infamous caisson killer, if I remember correctly

Alex T

If we're talking bridges and deaths, The Ironworkers Memorial bridge (formerly Second Narrows Bridge) in Vancouver BC comes to mind for me. As someone from Vancouver 🤣

Taryn

Wow. So now everytime I go over a bridge I’m gonna think, How many people died making this? Thank you for your awesome vid. As always you rule. 🤘🏻

Thedarklordsflowerpatch

Oh. my god.

Caitlin Doughty

How about Jeff Bridges?

Nimbus Minx

I'm so claustrophobic I had a hard time working at Old Navy on flip flop day lmaoooo. I would simply walk into the river before I would go to the caisson.

Cara Eskins

The Hi-Line Bridge in ND. Why? 🤷‍♂️. Great documentary. Never thought about the bends "on land"

Jack Frost

I dunno if it would make a good episode, but it would be relaxing research: the story of Seven Mile Bridge, connecting mainland Florida to the Florida Keys. Nicknamed Flagler's Folly. A category 5 hurricane hit the bridge in 1935 when it was being built and killed 600 workers. The original is still there, but you drive on the new bridge.

Adrien Molyneux

My favorite bridge has always been the Aerial Lift Bridge in Duluth, MN — but I’m fascinated by the Three Bridges in Scotland.

Lyndsey Augé

Not give me liberty or give me death 😂😂😂

Lyndsey Augé

Me, too! Even worse tha the Astoria Bridge from the Oresgon side.

David M. Carson

Got it!

lisa brendle

The story of the origional Tacoma Narrows bridge is quite a ride. Horrible pun I know. The Bridge of the Gods scares the crap out of me though...

Nicole Curtis

I'm excited about Caitlyn's Titanic obsession!

Michelle Heather Cohen

My favourite unsolicited morbid bridge fact is that since 1925, anyone who graduates engineering school and becomes an engineer in Quebec gets an iron (or steel) ring that up until a certain point was made out of metal salvaged from the 1922 collapse of the Quebec Bridge, which killed 88 people, as a symbolic representation of the responsibilities that come with being an engineer.

Noa Smashy-Smash

I just wanted to make you aware that 2025 is the season of Broadway iconic corpse musicals. We’ve got a fictional whale fishing cannibalism musical, Operation Mincemeat, and Elmer McCurdy. We’ve also got Floyd Collins dying in a cave on Broadway, though I don’t know if it was underwater, and Death Becomes Her the movie-turned-musical. And a Titanic movie parody musical offbroadway. It’s Caitlin’s ultimate Broadway season!

Lauren Conrad

I am waiting on the titanic book. I really appreciate you.

Gary Schlagheck

Oooh, I can't wait to watch this! And I can't wait for your book--Titanic is one of my favorite obsessions.

Jessica

My current obsession is pet mourning jewelry

DeadBirdKitsch

(my favorite bridge is the Hennepin Avenue Bridge, in Minneapolis. So there you are!)

Michelle Heather Cohen

If you're gonna be covering bridges, you have GOT to do the Tacoma Narrows bridge. Specifically, the original. The one nicknamed Galloping Gerdie.

Weaver

Hooray! New video!

Michelle Heather Cohen

Brent Spence Bridge

Amanda Morgan

Is this about Roebling's erection? I can't wait to watch when I get home! (I sure hope someone gets the reference. 😅)

Paragon Plays

Titanic is always my obsession. Has been for 27 years! So, I’m in the club. British Titanic Society convention 14 days from now!! Nice to see ye Caitlin.
