The Mentalist 1X21: Miss Red

Dude. It annoyed the hell out of me that nothing ever came from Rigsby's illness. I was sure the medication was going to kill him or something. Nope. It really was just the catalyst to Jane starting to understand what was happening, but I really wanted more from that.

Anyway, they catch a case of a missing super rich CEO of a company. There's blood on his boat, but he's not. Lisbon and Jane actually seem to clue in at the same time that he's weighed down with the anchor. They pull him up and off we go.

First we check out the brother who he lives with. He seems a bit drunk, but more than willing to answer questions. And he's got a hell of a motive. Most of his brother's fortune goes to him in the will. However, he has an alibi. But he brings up both his ex wife and current girlfriend, claiming the former is a bitch and the latter is incredibly sweet.

Cho and Grace go to talk to the dead guy's partner at the company. He doesn't have an alibi, but claims that the business is already falling apart without him. Killing him would be the worst thing for him to do. He won't, however, talk about how the company is under investigator with the SEC. (Oh yeah, that's happening too).

While this is going on, Jane and Rigsby are talking to the new girlfriend who happens to be a therapist of some kind. She offers to write Rigsby a prescription for his illness, and they leave. Back at the office, Jane asks about the prescription and Rigsby tells him what it is. Jane comments on the fact that no doctor has ever written a legible prescription. He also claims she was warm and kind, not like a doctor at all.

Grace looks her up and we find out that she's not actually a doctor at all. She's stealing the identity of one. Apparently, the dead guy was hiding 10 million in cash so his wife didn't get it in the divorce. She found out about it and cozied up to him to try to find it. After Jane calls her out on it, she takes his advice and heads over to the office to con the wheel chaired security guy into helping her. But, he turns on her, jumps out of his chair, steals the bag with the money and tries to flee.

Unfortunately for the two of them, CBI already has eyes on them and they only make it a few feet away before they are stopped and arrested. I don't know. I think Jane had a lot of admiration for this woman. It feels like she could have ended up with his career had she made some different choices.
