What Jackie Wanted

Hello Deathlings!

Sometimes you research a video and, despite how tragic or shocking it is, you find a way to take a step back and not get overwhelmed with the emotion of it all. Frankly, it allows my team and me to keep telling these stories year in and year out. 

But this was not one of those videos, which I for some reason didn't expect. When writer/producer Louise and I decided to do this video, we figured we'd heard so much about Jackie and JFK and already knew so much about his death, that this would be a somber but not-too-emotional project to work on. 

Well, I was wrong. 

Talking with Louise this morning, she revealed that she got straight up weepy while doing research about Jackie's last days with JFK. When I was working on the script I was taken aback by how moving I found Jackie's whole experience, how vital it was to the full picture of JFK's death. I had been focused on the autopsy, embalming, the casket – but it was Jackie that gave it humanity. 

I love when, after all these years, a video can still surprise me. 

So thank you Patrons, for allowing us to continue doing videos that surprise us. You're going to get tired of me saying this, but it's true – YOU make these videos possible!

When we release patron-only videos we will explicitly state in the video info and in the video post that it is a "Patron Exclusive" video. Patreon recently changed the way Patrons-only video posts (i.e. these nifty messages that are delivered to your inbox) are released via email – automatically adding that "patron-only video" line to the subject, even if that's not the case.
