Meet Ericka!

Hey Deathlings, Ericka here! 

Some of you may recognize my name from sliding into your DMs to give you the Secret Shop password. I’m the Project & Development Coordinator for the Order. Since I'm the newest member of the Order/AAM team, Caitlin and Louise thought it would be fun for y'all to get to know me. So here I am :)

But how does a girl from Kansas end up working for The Order? Let me take you all the way back to the year 2021. 

I had graduated with my Master’s in Sociology a few years back and working at organizations that made me feel dead inside. Enter: The Order of the Good Death. I knew as soon as I saw the listing that it was the one for me because, what could make me feel more alive than talking about death all day? My friends and family thought I had officially lost my mind and was joining a cult (because, let’s be honest, "The Order of the Good Death" definitely sounds like a cult) but I was over the moon when I found out I got the job.

Aside from wrangling donors, managing project timelines, and handling Patreon, I am an obsessed cat parent to Purrsephone, Catspian, and Pawnelope- though they are indifferent to my job as long as I am around to give them plenty of snuggles and keep their food bowls full.

I am also absolutely obsessed with anything horror –  whether it be books, movies, or podcasts. Halloween is obviously my favorite holiday and this year my partner and I dressed up as characters from the Fear Street Trilogy (if you haven’t seen it you are missing out!). I was getting fake blood stains out of my hair and hands for weeks. Worth it. 

When I’m not working you will catch me baking pies, cross stitching cat puns, or sewing my own Ericka haute couture. So that’s me! Feel free to drop a question below or just say hi and tell me your favorite pie (mine is banoffee).
