Hello Deathlings,
OK, I have to say that Seattle and Washington State in general was a deathy good time. It felt like every time I turned around somebody was asking, "And have you heard of THIS tale dark and unusual tale? Have you heard of THIS corpse? Have you heard of THIS bonkers death debacle?"
Louise and I had talked about doing a "Lady of the Lake" video, and as much as we both really liked the story, it just wasn't right for the main channel. Then, while I was at supermarket in a small Washington town, I came across one of those locally published books that for some reason are usually about true crime, hauntings, or disasters. Honestly, I love these books. A lot of times they are able to capture the character and intimacy of a place better than a "fancier" author or publisher.
This particular slim volume was about the "Lady of the Lake". I picked it up knowing we were on our way to Crescent Lake and I figured it would be good reading as I chilled by the water.
CHILLED by the WATER. Yeah, I heard it too.
Like I say in the video, Crescent Lake is so breathtaking and singular, and the story of Hallie Latham Illingworth is so sad and fascinating, that I couldn't resist getting in front of the camera to talk to you all about it.
Our big, main channel video for this month is coming up soon – it's currently in Timothy's magical editor hands getting all prettied up for the ball. EXCITED!
Until then, I hope you enjoy this story. And GRATITUDE to the great state of Washington for being a delightfully strange and welcoming host.
Stay safe out there and as always, thank you for your support!
Caitlin
