Bigger. Better. CORPSIER...This Fall (and Beyond!)

Hello Deathlings!

As I've been hinting for the last few months, we've got big things in store for Ask a Mortician this fall. Earlier this year we decided that we really wanted to focus on longer, documentary style videos, videos that would feel at home on that streaming service...what's it called again...Net...oh what was it...flix?

So that's what we've been doing all summer. Writing, researching, and shooting videos. Videos we believe in; videos we are excited about. Videos that will not only dive into some pretty remarkable death history but also advances that are changing the landscape of death care. 

We are committed to examining the past, present, and future of death. 

What does this mean for you, dear Patron? 

Well along with the videos we've been working on, the team has been hard at work on revamping our Patron offerings. At certain tiers we are now offering bonus content (podcast, vlog), new merch, access to Caitlin's SECRET Shop, and more! Go ahead and take a look at those new pledge tiers...we'll wait right here. 

What does it mean for existing Patrons? 

It means that many of you may be receiving new rewards in the mail! 

-- If your current tier offers new rewards they will be mailed to you automatically. Long time Patrons (those who have pledged continuously for at least 6 calendar months), your new perks are on their way. 

-- Those who have not yet made it to 6 months of continuous patronage, only need to wait a little longer. At the 6 month mark, you will also automatically get your perks! 

And if any of you are still waiting on tote bags (RIP) – don't fret! They are on their way. 

Note that our new $120 tier requires 1 year of continuous patronage to receive one of your perks. But trust us, that wait will be worth it! (We're all super excited about the loot box!)

If you remain on the same pledge tier, no action is required from you. 

We hope that you're as excited as we are about these changes – especially to the channel. Netflix would be nice, but in thinking about what we, Team Death Video, want for Ask a Mortician – creating painstakingly researched, accessible, and scrappy-like-we-do-best videos is what got us the most inspired. We can't wait for you to come along on the marvelously morbid journey. 

So thank you Patrons. As always, you are the wind beneath our winged death's heads. The shroud to our corpse. The fire on our pyre.

*A quick, but important clarification: If you clicked on this post from your email, the subject probably read, "Caitlin Doughty's new patron-only video". This is not a patron-only video; this is a video that was released to the public. When we release patron-only videos we will explicitly state in the video info and in the video post that it is a "Patron Exclusive" video. Patreon recently changed the way Patrons-only video posts (i.e. these nifty messages that are delivered to your inbox) are released via email – automatically adding that "patron-only video" line to the subject, even if that's not the case. But that's not how we (and a lot of other creators) do things. So, sorry for the confusion! I hope this cleared things up! We're working on fixing this with Patreon.
