An Update on What's Happening in Los Angeles

Hello Deathlings, 

We're dropping a new video today because I wanted to update you on how things are going in Los Angeles since our last video. 

Spoiler: things are still bad. People are still dying at a shocking rate. Or as officials have called it, "uncomfortably high". 

What continues to be the most frustrating and infuriating part of this situation is that amidst all this death, the government officials I've spoken to know how bad things are but  have a disconnect between what the government could (should) be doing and what they believe funeral homes are capable of doing. The overwhelming number of bodies has been viewed as a "business opportunity".

WTF. 

What I can tell you is that my team is amazing and deserves all the recognition. They are doing difficult work with grace, focus, and compassion. It's because the team has come together so beautifully that we are able to keep our heads above water, mentally. There are rough days and there are rougher days, but we are carving out ways to take care of ourselves. Thank you to everyone who has asked after our well-being. 

Thank you for your support and care, deathlings. Your thoughtfulness and kind words do not go unnoticed. We WILL get through this.

*A quick, but important clarification: If you clicked on this post from your email, the subject probably read, "Caitlin Doughty's new patron-only video". This is not a patron-only video; this is a video that was released to the public. When we release patron-only videos we will explicitly state in the video info and in the video post that it is a "Patron Exclusive" video. Patreon recently changed the way Patrons-only video posts (i.e. these nifty messages that are delivered to your inbox) are released via email – automatically adding that "patron-only video" line to the subject, even if that's not the case. But that's not how we (and a lot of other creators) do things. So, sorry for the confusion! I hope this cleared things up! We're working on fixing this with Patreon.
