Hello Deathlings!
I'm so excited about this week's video. From the very beginning of my death nerd journey I've loved just how absolutely koo-koo bananas this story is. I mean it's HISTORY with a capital "H", but the characters are so eccentric, the events are so fantastical, the public is so BRUTAL, you'd think I'd made it up.
Friends, if I were this creative I'd have some high-concept corpsey prestige show on HBO or Netflix by now.
I have a YouTube channel.
NO REGRETS.
But can you even IMAGINE if they made a TV show or mini-series about America's first official cremation? Why haven't they done that yet? Why aren't Nick Offerman, Rahul Kohli, and Paul Rudd playing our trio of cremation heroes?
Oh yes and HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I feel like I have should have something more exciting to tell you or show you on this most macabre of days, but I'm just hanging at home...like I do...only with the promise of (more) snack size candy bars (than usual).
I'll be dressing up as Lady Who Goes Out. So I'll wear shoes indoors.
Are you all doing anything for Halloween? Movies? Candy? Socially distanced trick or treating? (How does that work?)
Whatever you do, stay safe out there, wear a mask, and don't eat candy with pointy things in it.
From an appropriate social distance,
Caitlin
*A quick, but important clarification: If you clicked on this post from your email, the subject probably read, "Caitlin Doughty's new patron-only video". This is not a patron-only video; this is a video that was released to the public. When we release patron-only videos we will explicitly state in the video info and in the video post that it is a "Patron Exclusive" video. Patreon recently changed the way Patrons-only video posts (i.e. these nifty messages that are delivered to your inbox) are released via email – automatically adding that "patron-only video" line to the subject, even if that's not the case. But that's not how we (and a lot of other creators) do things. So, sorry for the confusion! I hope this cleared things up! We're working on fixing this with Patreon.
