Hello Deathlings!
May I present to you our video on freeze-drying a corpse AKA promession.
After being asked about this process approximately 937 times, we thought it was time for us to devote a video to the concept of promession.
Concept of promession.
I really don't want to be a buzzkill and as I say in the video I'm all for ALL the green burial advances, but let's be clear: promession AKA freeze-drying your corpse so you can shake it apart into organic particles for burial, is still very much a CONCEPT.
I would LOVE it if someone sees this video and is like, "Ummmmm, Caitlin? Get with the times, we've legalized promession in my state/province/pod and we're doing it and it WORKS!"
But until I get that email, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news deathlings: promession isn't an option yet.
No shade on Susanne Wiigh-Mäsak – can you imagine what it took to even begin to construct this process? I look forward to a future where people laugh at that quaint old YouTube mortician who just didn't get it.
I hope this answers some questions for you deathlings. If nothing else, I'm even more hopeful that this isn't the last we hear of promession.
We have another video coming at you before the end of the month plus more content in August along with a very exciting announcement...
From an appropriate social distance,
Caitlin
*A quick, but important clarification: If you clicked on this post from your email, the subject probably read, "Caitlin Doughty's new patron-only video". This is not a patron-only video; this is a video that was released to the public. When we release patron-only videos we will explicitly state in the video info and in the video post that it is a "Patron Exclusive" video. Patreon recently changed the way Patrons-only video posts (i.e. these nifty messages that are delivered to your inbox) are released via email – automatically adding that "patron-only video" line to the subject, even if that's not the case. But that's not how we (and a lot of other creators) do things. So, sorry for the confusion! I hope this cleared things up! We're working on fixing this with Patreon.
