What Lies Beneath Lake Superior (and the Song That Will Be Frozen in Your Head for All Time)

That song will never not be in my head. I will be singing it on my death bed.

Welcome to another video featuring things that terrify me!

Sing it with me: Underwater corpses, in a dark claustrophobic environment! Lalala la la! 

I find the wreck of the Kamloops sad and fascinating, but you couldn't PAY me to go swimming around down there with Old Whitey. 

During the making of this video, I also learned that my co-writer and producer, Louise, has a deep fear of drowning in a sinking ship. So yeah, there were probably a few times during writing/research/editing where two out of three Team Death Video members were REAL FUN to be around. 

Nonetheless, when my wonderful friend Jon offered me the chance to come to Lake Superior and learn about not only the Edmund Fitzgerald but also the remarkable people who live on the lake, I jumped at the chance. And I don't regret a moment of it. The experience was moving, enlightening, and humbling. 

People talk about the "awesome power of nature" all the time, but until you've been face-to-face with a body of water like Lake Superior when she's "in a mood", you don't know "awesome" from AWESOME. 

So I hope you enjoy this video and maybe find a new appreciation for beast that is Lake Superior as well as the tough people who spend their lives upon it.
