How can you steal Ricky's harness and then try to date him? What kind of sociopath are you? Plus, I don't even get to see the second act? Why would you deny me of that?
So, basically, Howie was just enamored by Kourtney's performance and that's why he was acting all shady. I don't buy it. But, that seems to be all there was to it. And it seems like he and Kourtney are back together and happy again.
After talking to Gina's brother, E.J. thinks that she thinks about him like a brother. And, instead of just talking to her about it, breaks their date and doesn't want to plan another one. Guys. Just talk to each other. Seriously. Thankfully, Ashlyn mentions something about it Gina, who immediately goes after E.J. and tells him he's wrong and asks if he'll be her first kiss. Which again, I don't get to see. What is going on with not showing me stuff I want this episode? (Also, I think he's a senior, so he shouldn't be here next season, right? So am I just never gonna see this?)
Nini tries to cheer Gina up when she finds out about E.J. breaks the date and Gina is grateful. She ends up putting Nini in touch with her brother, the famous music producer so she can take the next step with her songwriting.
We spend this entire season crazily trying to win this stupid award (again, that we didn't even realize existed before now) and then we decide to withdraw from the running? On one hand, I like this because I don't care about this stupid award, but on the other hand, it was, like, the main focus of the season. Now it doesn't matter?
Ricky decides it would be fine if Jenn dated his dad. Which she seems touched by, but Robot Guy (I actually do know his name now, but Robot Guy is much cooler) finally confesses his feeling for Jenn. I honestly cannot tell if she likes him romantically or if she just thinks of him as a friend. I know she likes Ricky's dad though. And the only think keeping Robot Guy here is Jenn. (Apparently E.J.'s dad hooked him up with a spot at Caltech to get his PhD). Are we losing him next season? Because it seems like either he and Jenn are together or he's gone.

I'm really behind on these and you may have already started season 3 but just to provide some context for season 2. Covid hit during filming for season 2. Production was paused for months (I forget how long but I think it may have been over 6 months) and then restarted, but covid had a long lasting affect on production, mostly that they had to cut a lot of the big plans for the show because it was too many people in close spaces. So the finale for the show was supposed to be a huge production and have hundreds of extras but that was axed cause it was a safety issue. Why they chose to not even look at the results I have no idea lol. Covid also influenced season 3 so they were good to continue filming as long as they followed covid safety rules, but the show creator decided to set season 3 at summer camp so that he could get all the cast and crew out of the big city where catching and spreading covid among the crew was high and would cause delays. They filmed in a more rural, woodsy area in LA, rather than Salt Lake City, so they could have scenes outside, less people in small spaces, etc. It's not weirdly noticeable in the season but it's why they changed up the format. Also I just have to say that Lily's speech to Ricky at the end gives me the ick because it's just a disingenuous version of Gina's goodbye to Ricky. You can literally look at them back to back and see the parallels. I have other thoughts on Nini and Kourtney and Gina's brother and more on Lily and Ricky, but I don't have time to share them right now, so I'll just leave it here. Except I do want to say that you'll notice a pace shift in season 3 compared to season 2. Season 2 had 4 more episodes than season 3, so the season 3 plot gets really condensed. Season 2 is like taking the scenic route and letting things slow-burn and season 3 is jumping on the highway like you're late for an appointment lol. I think season 3 is better than season 2 though. To be fair, I think every season is better than season 2. It's at the bottom of my ranking.
