High School Musical: The Musical: The Series 2X10: The Transformation

I was pretty underwhelmed by this episode. It might have been because I didn't love last episode and I really wanted this one to be great. Or it might have just been that this wasn't a great episode. Either way, Gina and E.J. have finally planned a date!

So Ricky is struggling with the Beast transformation scene. And honestly, even if he wasn't and was able to do it perfectly, it still doesn't look that great. Then Jenn finds out that North High managed to get their hands on the tech specs for the original Broadway play and she's devastated that they might not win.

The kids decide to come up with their own plan. To invent something to make Ricky's transformation more exciting. The boys and girls (minus Seb, who goes with the girls) decided to have sleepovers and work through the night trying to figure it out. Kourtney pretty much immediately comes up with an easy solution to the costume change and they tell the boys they need a spinning box (basically).

Everyone has done their part, when Kourtney gets a text from Howie that give her the specs. Do we think this is sabotage? That these are not the real plans? I don't know. I'm skeptical. (Just like I'm skeptical of Lily calling Ricky just ask about why people don't like her). But, we all meet at school to see if we can make this work.

Turns out, the actual specs are just the Beast being hauled in the air and then him taking his mask off. Since Ricky is used to doing this from the dunking shot in HSM, they think this should be super easy. (Plus we've got the awesome Kourtney's perfect outfit change). But, when they hoist Ricky up, the rope breaks and he crashes to the stage. And we end there. No idea if he's hurt, or we have to find an understudy, or what. But opening night is soon, so hopefully, he's fine.

Back when the two groups were split up, Seb confessed that he thought Carlos might only be dating him because there aren't a lot of gay guys in school. Ashlyn texted this to Red who told Carlos. So, Ricky helps him write a song for Seb. It's not a great song. I was pretty disappointed. But that might have just been because I wanted to hear the song he wrote for Nini last week again. Lol. Regardless, he sings it to Seb, and Seb is happy. So, I'm happy.

Both groups wonder if there is anything going on with Gina and E.J. and they both shut it down. But, they both obviously want it. So, as soon as they see each other, E.J. asks Gina out and she accepts. Huzzah!

And I have no idea what's going on with Nini. She's not in the show anymore, so maybe it's just that, but I cannot get a read on her right now. She sort of seems jealous that Gina thought Ricky sent her chocolate. And also that she might date E.J. I know that Nini had both of those guys first, but she doesn't want either of them, and her and Gina aren't really that friendly. If she and Kourtney wanted the same guy, I could see friction, but her and Gina? Something is just off about her and I have no idea what. I wonder if she's regretting leaving YAC?
