Oh man. That 'This is just who I am when I'm not in love with you,' from Stefan was brutal. You could literally feel the two of them in that scene.

So, Jeremy refuses to kill the vampires at the bar. He's pissed because Damon told him he wouldn't have to kill an innocent people. But Damon, desperate for a cure for Elena, tries to talk him into it. Klaus tries to compel him, but you can't compel a hunter, so instead, he compels all the new vampires to go after Matt. Which is fucked up, but it's Klaus, so 🤷‍♀️

Damon tries to ward of the vampires while Jeremy gets Matt to the safety of the cabin. Elena shows up and is also pissed at what Damon did. She ends up taking Matt back home and leaving Jeremy with Damon to finish the job.

They head back to the bar, but when they get there, all the vampires have been killed already. Turns out, Kol is really, really afraid of Silas and is willing to do pretty much anything to make sure he doesn't awaken. And if we get the cure, it seems like he might. However, he doesn't want to kill Jeremy because he doesn't want to go through that hunter killing hallucination thing, so he decides he'll just rip off Jeremy's arms instead. Damon intervenes and tells Jeremy to run.

Unfortunately, Kol decides to play with Damon for a bit to make sure that he can be compelled (spoiler alert, he can be), and after impaling himself on some wood for awhile, Kol compels him to kill Jeremy.

Thankfully, Damon figures out pretty quickly what happened and while he's hunting Jeremy he keeps yelling to him, I'm compelled to kill you. Keep running. Don't stop. And the like. But, it seems like Jeremy things he can outsmart Damon, and attacks him. Damon bites him and begs Jeremy to kill him. But, Jeremy just shoots him in the head. Eventually, Stefan shows up and drains him of enough blood to weaken him and tosses him in the basement cellar until we can figure out how to get Kol to take his compulsion back.

Elena stops by to see him, but Stefan won't let her afraid that her sire bond will let Damon out if he asks. But, he's being very cold and unfriendly (which, valid), and this prompts Elena to ask what's wrong with him. And he replies, 'Nothing. This is just how I act when I'm not in love with you.' Ugh. It was so good.

Meanwhile, Stefan and Rebekah are on the hunt for the headstone of Silas's grave. They need it for the spell. They are sure it's in Shane's office, so Rebekah has him arrested so they can search undeterred. However, someone else shows up and finds the headstone. No idea who he is, but apparently, he's been compelled to not say anything when asked. First he cuts his tongue out, and then kills himself. I feel like this is Kol's doing?

And, while Shane is being questioned about the pastor and all the people dying, Bonnie barges in to talk to him, telling him she knows it's bullshit and he's not involved. But, he tells her it's not bullshit and he kind of was. Then he sprouts some cult like theories, Bonnie calls him crazy and goes to leave. But, he stops her by talking about Grams, and Bonnie loses it and uses her magic on him.

Later, Shane tells Bonnie's dad that she's the most powerful witch ever and she needs him to save her from herself. Basically. Bonnie is skeptical, but her dad seems on board.

I want to point out that during the reaction, I was confused about why Kol was coming to kill Jeremy now, as I thought at the time, that he wasn't killing him because Klaus told him not to. That's not what happened. Kol didn't wanna kill him because of the hunter's curse. But, you can totally destroy someone without killing them. Especially in this universe. So, that's why I was acting so confused during the end of the episode. In case you're curious. Lol.
