Hello Deathlings,
This week we have a video for you that I've been wanting to do for a long time. I've been talking about it with Team Death Video for years, and now, on the 20th anniversary of the Columbine massacre, it seemed like the right time. Honestly, we should probably be correcting Columbine myths a lot more in this modern age of mass shootings.
If you're of a deathling of a certain age – let's say late Generation X to mid Millennial (with Xennials in there too because they hate to be forgotten) – you might remember Columbine much like I did. It was one of the first times, if not the first time I saw major media coverage of normal American kids like me being targeted, at school nonetheless. Both the victims and the killers didn't seem all that different from me or my friends or the guy I sat across from in 3rd period history class.
It was shocking how such violence sprung from so much normalcy.
What do you remember about the Columbine coverage?
I also want to say thank you Patrons, for making it possible for us to create videos like this. If it wasn't for your support – both monetary and with your unwavering death positive spirit – we wouldn't be able to create videos (or podcasts or articles or resources) that we believe tackle difficult but important topics.
In the coming weeks we’ve got all manner of deathy delights in store for you! Next week we have a new Death in the Afternoon on a topic SO many of you have been asking for, we'll have a marvelous new article on The Order website, and we'll have a shiny new video for you on the first Saturday in May!
All for your desiccated hearts CONTENT (Get it? Content?),
Caitlin
