I'm a little afraid that this whole show is going to be Patrick knowing exactly what happened every episode and Teresa telling him that's not what happened. Eventually, she's got to clue in that he's the smartest person in the room all the time, right?
Okay, so we start off by finding a dead girl in a ditch. Once they we get there, Patrick tells them immediately what happened. It seems like a wild leap of faith, but no surprise that he's right. Then we go to talk to the family of the girl and I thought maybe it was the brother that did this. (Adolescence maybe got into my head). I was so glad when he found out it wasn't. But also shocked that he was carrying around an axe to kill the guy when Patrick figured out who it was.
Patrick examines the girl's room and discovers a picture over her bed with her and co-worker (and apparently someone cut out of, which I totally didn't notice). They try to talk to the co-worker but she claims to know nothing. So Patrick hypnotizes her (Which apparently is illegal? Unethical maybe, but illegal?). The next day she spills her guts about how the girl was dating her cousin some gang member (or drug dealer?).
They also go to the restaurant that she worked and met with the owners. After the meal, Patrick is sure it was the male owner, the chef. Teresa tells him that's ridiculous; it's the boyfriend. Patrick agrees to work the boyfriend lead with her, but he goes off on his own to figure it out.
Once they find her blood in the boyfriends truck, Teresa figures it's game over, but Patrick drags her to the motel the killer has been staying at (yeah, he figured all that out already) and sits her down to watch the show. He got Van Pelt and Rigsby to pretend to be on a date and have them break up loudly, so everyone knew she was alone. There were using her as bait. But things get a little messed up when the killer went for another girl instead.
Unfortunately for the killer, the girl is brought back to the murder room that Patrick is still in. And who is it? Both owners. They drag an unconscious girl who is taped up back to the room, and immediately start laying plastic on the bed. Thankfully, Patrick has managed to call for help, so by the time they realize he's there, he's able to talk to them long enough for Teresa to arrive. She ends up needing to shoot and kill both of them as they both came at her with weapons.
But again, unorthodox, but he gets the job done. Which is why I think this show is going to be so much fun to watch. However, I really do hope that Teresa either starts working with Patrick or starts to believe him, but force him to go about getting evidence a proper way. Only because her refusing to believe he's right every episode (when she knows he's never wrong) is going to get annoying after awhile.
