Welcome back deathlings!
It was a long DARK January, but here we are, rising like a vulture from the carcass of a phoenix... or something.
We at the Order of the Good Death have been busy busy busy since the end of 2018 and we can't wait to unveil the fruits of our labor.
Take a look around at our Patreon page – things look a little different, eh?
Check out those new pledge levels, those new rewards, the new patron goal. But the BIGGEST change is that we've switched from a pay-per-video pledge model, to a monthly pledge model.
All that means is that instead of getting charged every time we create a video, you now pay ONE monthly amount to support ALL the content The Order of the Good Death Creates. That's it, one charge, no financial surprises.
If you're a new Patron (hi welcome): it's just a matter of choosing a pledge level and punching in your info.
If you're a returning Patron: it's nearly as simple. Seriously, don't freak out! You can do one of two things.
Thing the First: Nothing.
Yep, that's right. If you do nothing, your previous per-video pledge will become your flat monthly pledge. That's all you'll be charged.
Thing the Second: Change your pledge amount to match what you had been paying monthly (or to a totally new amount of your choosing).
Easy steps to change your pledge:
Step 1: Hover on your profile icon in the upper righthand corner in Patreon. From the drop-down menu that appears, click your memberships and you'll see a list of all your active memberships.
Step 2: Click edit next to the membership you'd like to update.
Step 3: You’ll be taken to the confirmation page where you’ll see the details of your current tier. To edit your tier level, click the orange edit link to the right of “your tier.”
Step 4: Select the new tier level that you’d like to pledge to. Click the orange continue button.
Step 5: Once you click continue you’ll be taken to the confirmation page once more. Select update pledge.
For more details on how to edit your pledge amount, or how to do it in the mobile app, go here.
If you have ANY questions or concerns about the changeover you can always post a question in the Deathling Den or message us here on Patreon.
OK, so what's all this CONTENT I'm talking about?
Well, today we released a brand new Ask a Mortician video shot on-location in Hawaii! And it's not just Caitlin sitting on the lanai of the Ol' Doughty Homestead gabbin' about death again – oh no! I go out and TALK to people, I PARTICIPATE, I TEST DRIVE an eco-casket! It's the beginning of a whole new world of videos.
And later this month we'll be releasing a second video, a looooong video that the Death Video Team has worked around the clock on. So much research, so much interview, so much road trip.
Here's a little photo tease for that video – where in the world is Caitlin San Diego?

But we've got more than videos in store for you!
Rolling out in February and beyond, we'll have new in-depth pieces and interviews on The Order of the Good Death blog.
This month:

We'll also be updating and expanding the resource section of the Order website. From planning a home funeral to all the best death books, we've got you covered.
PLUS – and we're SUPER excited about this – we've formed a legal watchdog group that will help people know and understand their rights when an issue arises and will advise about actions people can take to support new options and safeguard their rights.
Later this month Sarah, Louise, and I will be headed back into the studio to begin recording Season 2 of our podcast, Death in the Afternoon. If you liked our first season, stay tuned for more episodes where we three death nerds dive into the sometimes dark, always thought-provoking, and often BONKERS world of all things mortal.

This is just the beginning! Throughout 2019 we've got plans for events, outreach, and LOTS MORE CONTENT. Your pledges make all of this possible!
And don't forget to visit our Patreon page on Friday February 8th for a new video detailing WHY we made this switch. If nothing else you get to see me talk to myself, which is always entertaining/concerning.
Above all, thank you deathlings everywhere for your support over the years. Through pledges, sharing, and just keeping conversation going, you have made the death positive revolution happen!
CONTENTedly Yours,
Caitlin
