Ugh. We were so close to saving Jane. I really thought we were going to break her out and both she and Fanny were going to come with us back to the ridge. But we only get Fanny (who is maybe Claire's granddaughter?!?)
So, thankfully, Claire is just fine after getting shot. She and Jamie have a bunch of really lovely moments while he's taking care of her. And this is the Outlander I want. I've said it before, I would watch Claire and Jamie staring a tree, as long as they were doing it together. But, the best news here is that Jamie and Claire are going back to the ridge. (I'm a little concerned that he'll get stuck in the army, but they are ready to go).
Shortly after, John shows up to pay his respects to Claire (and let Jamie know that William is fine). And Jamie is not having it when he calls her 'dear.' John switches to Mrs. Fraser after that. But, he and Jamie get into another fight (while I yell at them to stop and be friends again and Claire just rolls her eyes at them exasperatedly) and I'm wondering if they are actually going to end their friendship. I really hope not. I don't know if Jamie can get over this, but I really hope he does.
And speaking of William, he has a conversation with John about Jane. And while John isn't particularly helpful (I mean, he does fine out where she is, I guess) he doesn't really seem to be judgy about the fact that she's a whore. But, William also knows that if he's going to get her out of there before they kill her, that Grey is not the man for that. So, he comes to Jamie, who pretty much immediately agrees to help.
They sneak over to where she's being held. But, they are too late. She slit her wrists before they got to her. But, Jamie helps him lay her on the bed to say good bye before they have to sneak back out so they don't get caught there. Afterwards, the two of them finally have a proper conversation about where William comes from. He doesn't seem much better after, but he certainly doesn't seem worse either. Although, he makes it a point to tell Jamie that he'll never call him 'father.'
But William does take Fanny over to Jamie and Claire and they tell her they are going to take her with them to the ridge. She asks to go see her sister first, so they stop by what's basically a mass unmarked gravesite. Later, when we're getting ready to leave, Claire hears Fanny singing the same song that Claire sang to Faith when she was born. And then she tells Claire, her mom used to sing it to her. How could Faith possibly be alive? I'm trying to remember what happened when she died. Did we ever see for sure? So Fanny may very well be Jamie and Claire's granddaughter. That is wild.
Good news, Ian and Rachel are coming to the ridge as well and Rachel is pregnant. Huzzah! Love the two of them. But, we know that something bad was going to happen because that part made to so happy. And the next morning, poor Ian wakes up to a dead Rollo. Sad.
Brianna and the kids made it to Roger. And I think they are heading over the ridge as well. So, fingers crossed, perhaps we'll all be together in the same place for S8. Whenever that shows up, anyway.
