High School Musical: The Musical: The Series 2X6: Yes, And

I feel like this is the beginning of the end for Ricky and Nini. They are just not on the same wavelength anymore. He seems to be in love with the person he wants her to be, and not necessarily the person she is.

So, Nini is in the play now and she's playing the Rose. And Miss Jenn as asked her to compose a duet for her and Ricky to sing as the Beast and the Rose. She's spends most of the day sitting in the pizza shop watching Kourtney pine after Howie. And when she gets Kourtney to finally ask him out, she gets a burst of inspiration and is able to write the song. (Even though it doesn't seem much like a duet, but maybe that's the point?)

Afterwards, Nini plays the song for Kourtney via her phone. And asks her not to tell anyone, especially Ricky. She's not ready to share yet. But, Carlos has recorded this and plans to put it on social media. (Jess told him to get something up to compete with North High by the end of the weekend.) So, you know this is gonna be a problem.

We also find out that Gina told Ricky that she liked him before she left. This puts things into a bit of a different perspective. If he's known all along that she likes him, I do think that sometimes that way he treats her could be a little bit like he's leading her on. I should probably go back rewatch this season to look, but who has that kind of time. Lol.

And Jenn and Ricky's dad finally have their first date. But, Ricky freaks out about it (it's just another thing to add to his pile of changes- I don't really think it's about her) and she tells him that she won't be seeing his dad anymore. Theatre should be a play where everyone feels safe, and she needs him to feel that way when he's with her. It's kind of sweet.
