Outlander 7X15: Written in My Own Heart's Blood

Oh, you have got to be fucking kidding me. I mean, I'm sure it will be fine, but come the fuck on. Why? Why would you do this to me? I know why. I've been watching you for 7 seasons. You like to torture me, Outlander. We cannot lose Claire, Jamie or Ian. Others are negotiable, but not the three of them.

Also, as a quick aside, I grew up very close to where this battle was actually held. And Dan works basically around the corner from it right now. We've both seen where this has taken place hundreds of times. You guys. I almost know about history!

So, we start with a Claire voice over that already makes you feel like things are not going to go well. She's talking about all the wars we've made it through already. We can't possibly be that lucky again, can we?

Jamie ends up having to head off to battle and he and Claire have a bittersweet-esque farewell. They refuse to say good-bye or good luck. Claire tells Jamie she loves him, but he doesn't say it back. We know this was ominous at the time, but it didn't really mean anything. We 100% know that Jamie loves her with all the things in the universe.

So he heads off, and Claire goes to set up for patients. But this pompous asshole decides that Claire is a woman so she can't doctor people. Denzell comes to her aide and vouches for her, but after some back and forth, Claire figures she can be just as useful doing triage outside.

Soon, soldiers come streaming back in for treatment. Claire treats the easiest ones and helps the more wounded inside. At some point, one of the soldiers is in decent enough shape to let Claire know that they are winning and that he just saw Jamie and he should be along in a while. It turns out, Lee was a bitch and tried to retreat, but Washington pulled Jamie aside and was all we can do it! And now, the British are retreating.

They are starting to swarm into the camp. The doctor who told Claire she couldn't doctor tells her she's got to get inside or evacuate, but she's still got patients and refuses. He tells her she's a good doctor, wishes her well, and barricades himself inside.

Not long after that, British soldier come streaming passed them. They are retreating. Jamie shows up a minute or two later. But, then the two sides stars heckling each other and shots are fired. Jamie calls for his guys to stop shooting but it's too late. Claire is hit. And everything stops.

Jamie manages to carry her into the church. Once inside, he begs the doctor who told her she sucks to fix her. He claims there is nothing he can do and splits. The fuck? Jamie just sits with her and keeps pressure on her wound for awhile. Eventually, some soldiers show up and tell Jamie he's needed. He refuses to leave Claire's side. he demands one of the kids take his shirt off and uses Claire's blood to resign. He sends the other one to get Denzell.

He and Claire spend the night alone. I don't know how he did it. I'd have lost my fucking mind. But, in the morning, both Denzell and Rachel show up. Jamie begs him to save her. And with Claire's guidance (as much as she can give in her weakened state), he gets to work.

While our poor Claire is dying, John and Ian have managed to save William. It was a close call, what with our lying and all, but we basically killed everyone. Well, except Ian. He told the guy he had a knife to his throat to just go, as there had already been enough bloodshed. The dude tells Ian he'll regret it and heads off. Turns out, Ian agreed with him. He hunted him down and stabbed him to death claiming he was right- he probably would regret it.

Later, William gets back to camp and Fanny runs up to him pissed. He was supposed to take care of them and while he was away, Jane got taken by one of the guys who knew she killed Harkness. And now, Jane is missing and Fanny is alone.

And some stuff happened with Roger and Buck, but you know I don't care about that. But, Brianna and kids are coming through the stones to meet up with them. However, Mandy runs ahead and vanishes into the stones before Brianna and Jemmy are ready. Hopefully, they are busy trying to find her and we can just spend the last episode of the season in the best timeline. Come on, Outlander. You owe me.
