It's not a good idea for many reasons. One, there is that whole "mummy curse of the ancients"... thing. But more importantly, it's just bad for archeology and good taste. And yet, surprise surprise, the Victorians, debauched little suckers they were, were all about the Mummy Unwrapping parties.
