I am a massage therapist and was a teacher at a massage school for a while, and I feel very similarly about our licensing exam. It was the NCE- National Certification Exam when I took it and now it is the MBLEx- Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam. We would very much teach to the test and people would memorize and regurgitate or not. I saw some very talented students who had trouble passing the exam, and others who passed with flying colors even though technically they were not as proficient. I use some of what I learned in school, but the majority of the things that I use with actual clients came from continuing ed or on the job experience. The exam process is designed to test test-taking skills rather than proficiency in the profession. Much as you were saying with the funeral industry, there needs to be licensure and regulation just to make sure that everything is above board and that people who are doing the work /should/ be doing the work, but the way we decide it needs to be reformed. Anyway... this is my first comment on one of your videos. I recently found your channel and LOVE it! Thank you so much for your work and advocacy.
