No thank you. I hate this. We were supposed to decide that there was no way Eddie could leave the 118 and go to El Paso; no matter how much Christopher is there. We were supposed to figure out how to get Christopher back here. Why do you hate me 9-1-1?
So we've got basically two storylines, again. Maddie dealing with this kidnapper who calls her claiming he's got a girl and doesn't want to hurt her, but he knows he will. He's been here before. Maddie promises him that she won't send the police after him. If he just leaves the girl and runs, she'll help him get away. But, the cops show up and he's not there. It's just an empty lot. He knows Maddie lied and he's pissed.
Maddie then show up with Athena at a detective's office. Athena assures Maddie she's amazing. Maddie give her a bunch of evidence that the caller had multiple victims before this one. The detective claims that she has a suspect, but can't talk to him as she accused him of this multiple times and he threatened harassment. So Athena goes to talk to him and gets his ex. She give her a location of where he might be.
When Athena and the SWAT team show up (along with the detective) it seems like they've just missed him. They find blood and a chair that was obviously used to bind someone. The detective wonders if the ex tipped him off (I know think it was her).
The guy calls Maddie back again and claims he really wants help. He's going to kill this girl, but he doesn't want to. He wonders what Maddie would do if he came after Jee. I'm sorry. What? How the fuck to you know about Jee? Anyway, Maddie convinces him to shoot himself in the head, so he doesn't hurt the girl. She's still on the phone with the gun goes off. But Athena comes on and tells her that the guy is dead, and the girl is safe.
I was (and kind of still am) so concerned that Maddie might end up in jail for this. There is precedent. But both Athena and the detective assure her that she did the right thing. The girl is alive because of her. And they found trophies in his house, so she probably saved future victims as well. But, fuck. This is something Maddie is gonna have nightmares about for awhile, isn't it?
Then, when she finally gets back home, she thinks it's Chim coming through the door. But, it's the fucking detective who hits her over the head and chloroforms her. WTF. Also, why show Maddie who she is? I guess her plan is to kill her.
Our other storyline, is Eddie definitively deciding to move back to Texas. I hate it. He's but a down payment on a place. I hate it. He's trying to sublet his place. I hate it. Buck tries to sabotage all this. I hate it a little less.
But seriously, Buck is really hurting about Eddie moving away and he's trying to deal with it the best he can. But he's short and snippy and spills the beans long before Eddie is ready to. The rest of the 118 totally understand his need to be with Christopher and while sad, wish him well.
Eventually Buck comes around. He agrees to sublet Eddie's place, which was the final barrier towards Eddie leaving. I hate it. I'm hoping we get an episode or two of Eddie and Chris in El Paso and then they end up coming back. 🤞
