I knew about it already, and have been lucky to experience it first hand a couple years ago when a raven died in the tree outside my bedroom window. But a friend of mine sent me anow excerpt from a book, about Hawaiian crows and how they're now extinct in the wild and how that has affected them. It's so beautiful and interesting. When the raven died in the tree outside my window, the whole street became full of crows. They would gather in the trees and caw loudly all day. They did that for about a week, and then the noise started to lessen and the number of ravens started to dwindle until eventually weeks later they were all mostly gone.
