The Confederate Camel?!
Added 2016-09-29 18:13:40 +0000 UTCI'm am loving these morbid history videos. I have new Ask a Morticians planned, but they got bumped because I was so obsessed with Douglas the damn camel that I had to film this before anything else.
By the way, if you have any obscure death/morbid customs or history stories please share them! I would love if a video idea came from a Patron.

I feel robbed that I have been to all the Vicksburg Civil War sites so many times (close to home, plus the USS Cairo museum is neato) and only *now* am learning about Douglas...but grateful to be learning about him in the Best of ways. :D

They have an entire museum dedicated to her in Buenos Aires, and part of it is a recording of her sister narrating the state of each tiny part of her body when it was returned to her family 24 years after her death.
