High School Musical: The Musical: The Series 1X1: The Auditions

Okay, so this was actually pretty fun. And very light hearted, which I feel like we really need after We Were the Lucky Ones. Yes, I've only seen the first movie, but I think it'll be okay.

So, we've got the school were High School Musical was filmed, putting on High School Musical. It's all very meta.

Nini and Ricky have been dating for a year or so, she tells him she loves him via ukulele song on Instagram, and he tells her he thinks they should take some time apart while she goes to theatre camp for the summer. She's crushed and takes it as a break up. And, while at camp, she meets and starts dating E.J. who also happens to be super popular.

On the first day back after summer vacation, Ricky is excited to see Nini and looking forward to getting back together, but she tells him she feel for E.J. and breaks up with him (she thought they were already broken up though). Either way, Nini and E.J. are sort of the singing power couple now. They are expected to play Troy and Gabriella in the musical.

During the auditions, the crazy drama teacher asks Nini to audition for Kelsey (I think that was her name, the composer from the movie), but Nini wants to audition for Gabriella. However, some new transfer girl also auditions for Gabriella and is super good, with powerful vocals. But, it turns out, Nini is good too, and ends up with the part.

After auditioning, E.J. is expected to get the part of Troy, but, in a last minute, last ditch effort to win Nini back, Ricky shows up and auditions with the song Nini sang to him about how much she loves him. Everyone is shocked (and Nini and E.J. do not look happy) when he turns out so be pretty decent. Decent enough that he and Nini end up as Gabriella and Troy. With E.J. getting the part of Chad (I think).

Am I the only one who thought Nini might be Millie Bobby Brown? I have no idea what it is, but she looks just like her. Spoiler alert: it's not her. Lol.
