Talking to Parents About Death

Not the easiest conversation to have. I geared this toward the parent conversation- but it also works as a partner conversation! Or a convo with your children! Or a best friend!

Forgive the language, please, but this is actually the url: Get your shit together dot org (I listed dot com earlier, but that was incorrect--apologies) is a very helpful site a friend recommended to me, started by a woman who unexpectedly lost her husband. The site offers, among other things, a (free) downloadable packet of lots of planning-ahead forms including a living will. My mother and I are both filling these out, so that if and when something should happen to one of us, the other is prepared. I was fortunate, in that my mother started the conversation herself. <3

My mother has said, since I was about 12, that she wants to be cremated and her ashes put in a Diet Coke bottle (she's a bit obsessed). I guess I could start by asking if that's... really what she wants. (:

This video is amazing; my partner and I are making a theatre show about death and death positivity, and are finding a lot of pushback from unexpected places (and a lot of support from others). Obviously we're trying to approach it sensitively, but as with all art it's hard sometimes to find the right angle to approach the conversation from. You have no idea how helpful this was, both on a personal and a professional level! Thank you for being a constant inspiration xxx

I suspect he will very shortly be too cool for us. Which I think means we live forever?

His star is blinding. It's hard to be in the same room.

Lil' Reapsie is such a star.

I count myself lucky that my parents basically made a list of what to do if/when they die. They even told me where it is!
