Wildfire 4X8: Life's Too Short

Dude. I so did not think this was going to work out at the end. There were just too many obstacles, and it happened so fast! Wasn't Junior just about to get married, like, three weeks ago? Granted, Kris is the reason he didn't, but still.

So, Matt is headed to a race, and neither Kris or Jean can come, so they are left at the farm to be awkward with each other. However, it doesn't take long for Jean to reach out to Kris. They end up watching the race together and it goes so well, that Jean asks Kris to move back to Raintree. Huzzah!

However, after she and Junior finally have a conversation about their relationship and they decide to be together (Kris was upset because she didn't want to be the reason he left Laura at the alter), Jean finds out and is upset. She basically tells Kris that she doesn't think she can be with Junior and live at Raintree. We're run into this before. The Raintree vs Junior ultimatum.

Kris meets up with Junior to talk to him about it. And, for the first time, she chooses Junior. Not only does she choose him over Raintree, but he proposes and she says yes. This seems way fast, loves. It's not that I don't want to two of them together, but we're zooming toward the finish line here! They agree to meet outside of Raintree at 6 after they've packed.

But, both of them run into reasons they can't get there in time. Ken makes Junior meet a horse and then Dani informs them she's never coming back to Davis Farms. Good for her. I think this is best for her. But, it's still taking a long time to talk this out. Jean has Kris check in a bunch of dude ranch people.

They are both late getting to the gate, but they both make it and ride off together.

Right?!? Most of the thumbnails are Kris and a horse. And I really do like this relationship with Junior. I don't know how it's going to work out, but right now, I'm pro it. I'm already in rewatches (😳 I love this show so much) but it's still S1 and Dani is so different. She has grown so much! Agreed. I was, like, we've been here several times. She's chosen Raintree over him in ALL of them. But not any more! However, I really understand why she did every time. Ooh, that's a really good point about dating. And Kris (and Junior honestly- his has been kind of shitty too) really needs a family. And if Junior is willing to give that to her, I feel like that might be the push she needs. (And it seems like it is). Yes! To Dani! I've been loving her character development so much! She's working so hard to break free from shitty Ken, and I love where she's ended up. I really hope she and Noah get a happy ending.

Kris and Junior made the thumbnail lol. Jean was just being a bit dramatic in the goodbye. Kris is still going to work at Raintree, she's just moving out. I guess maybe Jean feels like this will affect the family bond but I don't think it has to. Jean still feels like Pablo is family and he doesn't live or work there. Matt is the real issue and he will get over it eventually. He's not going to be in love with her for the next 50 years. When Junior proposed I had your reaction. I was like holy shit where did that come from. I wanted them to get together but talk about skipping some steps. On rewatches I see it coming a bit more. Dani talking about how fast people can be taken from you and don't let Kris go or let anyone stand in the way. I think Junior is also trying to like put up more of a fight for them because Kris has chosen Raintree every time before and he's just let it happen. Obviously, he couldn't force her to choose him and she couldn't force him to stay as second priority but like he just walked away and this time he's standing his ground and offering her a real future. I think that's part of the difference this time. Junior is ready to offer her what Raintree gives her - family, security, love. Dating is great and all but it's not really something you can count on and build your life around the way you can family. But Junior is ready to actually make that commitment and provide those same things in a more permanent way. As far as Kris saying yes, it's kind of what I was talking about last episode. Living away from Raintree for 6 months gave her some perspective. Yes, she loves the Ritters and Raintree and they're family but she has wants and needs that aren't always going to align and she can't always put herself second to what they want. I was so proud of Dani for sticking to her guns. She's grown so much and going back to Davis Farms and her dad would just slowly erode all of that I think. If she wants to race horses, then she can venture into it on her own. She's proven herself more than capable between how she ran the farm and starting a business by herself. I'm glad she got her horse as well but I worry that she's going to be kept at Davis Farms. It feels like a string, you know?
